There were so many parts that I loved, many of them are listed in this thread, but hands down my favorite line is this one-
"I held you in my hand, Wanderer. And you were so beautiful."

I was already bawling when I read that so I had to put the book down and just absorb that line at that point. It was amazing.

Now that you mention that line, I'm pretty positive I cried at that point. Such an amazing monent. Kind of takes my breath away everytime I read it.

I definitely laughed at that part too! I remember my husband looking at me like I was weird

100% agree that this part was excellent - both because of what Ian was willing to do for Wanderer, and because of the heat behind Jared's kiss. Although I must admit, it made me think about how great some of that "writing genius" would be between Bella and Edward

i loved the way wanda and melanie fought with each other. how each helped each other in their own way.

this book had so many good parts. how can i name them all?! i cried so hard that i scared the daycare kids and i laughed so hard i woke the baby up LOL

Jared's response to Wanda, after she finishes telling the story of Harness Light and the bear, and they are about to steal cryotanks on a raid.

"Yes, let's finish this, Wanderer, Lives in the Stars, Rides the Beast. Stealing a few unguarded crates won't present much of a challenge for you, will it?"

Jared FINALLY respects her.

Here's one that my husband and I both chuckled over, it's when Ian goes to talk to Jared while he's guarding Wanderer, and they're talking about Kyle after Jared hit him:



I love all the little humorous bits that Stephenie throws in.

Chapter 34 - Buried -- p. 353.

Walt has just died, she's exhausted and mourning. Jared begrudgingly acknowledges her need to weep. Doc comes up to her and gives her the morphine. She realizes that this is happening and thinks, "No one said goodbye, I thought dully. I couldn't expect Jared, but Jeb... Doc... Ian wasn't here..."

Melanie comes in, "No one's dying, she promised me. Just sleeping this time..."

How is that for defining a relationship. Wanda is scared, and Melanie takes this moment to comfort and remind her that she's safe...

I LOVED this entire chapter! I wept for all of them.

I didn't recognize the importance of that moment until I read this comment. That is a really good point. Every time I have read it my heart goes out to Wanda and you want to make Wanda feel safe....just as Mel does. It really shows a soft side to Mel.

The transformation of these characters from strangers to family is beautiful. They way they grow to learn about, understand and then love each other is something ??? I can't even find the words...It is a portrait that GOD would paint...
