I think Edward and Jacob will eventually be friends. They were coming to better understanding of each other at the end of Eclipse. Their discussion in the tent led, I think, to a begrudging respect when they realized that they both just wanted the best for Bella. Edward admitted to Jacob that in some ways he was better suited for Bella, but Bella had decided that she wanted to be changed. Jacob is still on the immature side, and still blaming Edward, but after time will understand that it's Bella's wish for her to changed, not Edwards. Also, I think at the end, Jacob realizes that there's nothing he can do to change Bella's mind. Once he becomes resigned to the fact that Edward is Bella's first, last, and final choice, he will be able to move on and see Edward in a more favorable light. Jacob did begin to wonder, just for a minute in Eclipse, if the circumstances were different that maybe he and Edward could be friendly. Unfortunately, he was still in a bad place, and decided probably not. I think with time that will change.

Very well put! I think if Jacob learns to mature and find someone to be happy with they could all be friends. Maybe through the help of Seth. Then again they might just have a certain respect for each other, but never really "friends".

You know, I'm all for happy endings. I'd love to see Jacob and Edward as good friends, Jacob with someone he truly loves, and of course, Bella as a vampire.

I think it's important that Jacob and Edward either become friends or not so much enemies. Even though it was a competition much of the time they have shared the same world, the same girl. and there are not many they can talk to about who they really are. They have to appreciate that in eachother and always better understand one another through the fighting with Victoria and the newborns.

How many guys have you seen that fight together, then their best friends? It seems to be some male bonding thing. Maybe they will physically fight eachother in BD and when they find themselves unable to kill eachother they will become friends. Not that they would go to a movies or dinner together but they will respect and maybe protect the other if necessary.

Beyond the miniscule and ultimately disappointing possibility that Bella ends up with Jacob...nobody hurl large objects at me...I think the only way there will be a truce between Edward and Jacob, is either Jacob's imprints with someone else...I'm thinking, based on SM's referral to "A Mid-Summer's Night Dream", it might be Leah...or that Edward saves Jacob or someone close to him, such as Sam, or Leah, or even Billy perhaps. There must be some monumental change, which will effect the truce. I don't see it happening any other way. I am really leaning toward him imprinting on someone else; it seems the most likely and logical to me. But I've been wrong before...tee hee.

I think that they have made great strides in that direction, don't you. Charlie told Bella in Eclipse, after the battle injuries that Jake sustained, that Edward had been as concerned for Jacob as a brother would have been. Sure, they will always differ over Bella, but they have had some bonding experiences as well.

I think they're diffently on a better understanding with eachother. I just finished revamping Ecslipse and I think they'll become friends once Jacob accepts the fact that Edward and Bella are meant for eachother and really love on another. He needs to accepts that and trust Edward. Once he can do that, I think they could become friends.
