I hate surprises and I ALWAYS peeked at my Christmas gifts - I became an excellent re-wrapper because of it. Laughing

I didn't read the last chapter, though, only scanned for the name Edward. I knew if it was there, I could deal with whatever was between his leaving and then. Very Happy

I totally did this too!! I had to make sure he was there at the end of the book so I could continue. Embarassed
I always snooped around for my Christmas presents, too. Smile

I just read it through, usually. The exception is New Moon. When Edward left I cried for about 20 minutes, then peeked in the last chapter to see if his name was there. It was, so I read the rest. I just HAVE to have my happy endings!!

I did the same thing! I was so distraught when Edward left that I had to know if he was there in the end. I am still debating about BD but I am not sure I can control myself from peeking at the end.

Start at chapter one and read to the end. Torturing yourself a bit makes it so much more intense and sweeter once you finally get it. I can only imagine the bliss at this point.

Don't get me wrong...if the ending is something I totally do not want, like Edward human or something like that, I will read the whole thing to see if it wins me over. Don't get me wrong...I don't just peek so I can have a chance to avoid an ending I am not in favor of. I'll give it a shot no matter what.

My sister and I plan on attending the pre-bash at our local Barnes and Noble. Once we get our copies, we are going back to her house to read all night. Of course, we will have a few breaks to discuss what we have read and to refill our wine glasses but we have reserved her house for the night and for as much time as it takes to read it thru.

When I read the series for the first time, I read it thru. The second.....the same thing. But when I read it for the third time (yes.......I am that obsessed) I actually learned a lot of things that I had missed in the first two go-rounds. Now, I am reading it a fourth time to really nit pick at it so I will be ready for August!! Mr. Green

I'll read it through from beginning to end.
Stephenie said in her B&N interview that she wouldn't say anything about what happens in BD, because she thinks the reader should find out things about the story at the time, and in the same way, Bella finds out. That makes sense to me.

The only time I've ever peeked it was completely on accident, and it was horrible. I was reading Half Blood Prince and my book fell off the arm of the chair. When I picked it up, I glanced at the page and saw the words "You killed Dumbledore." I was just devastated. After that I don't even think about peeking!

Oh I know you will. azziesmom wrote that the only time she skipped ahead was to find Edward in NM. I couldn't even do that. I knew he was coming back. What I'm talking about is the massive build-up of tension by not looking. I feel it makes the emotional ride more poignant. It makes it hard to breath sometimes. I love it...

I agree. I never peek. I will even hold something over the rest of the page so my eyes don't "accidently" look ahead!

That is so funny because I will not even look at the chapter titles. I don't want it to put ideas in my head before they are supposed to be there! Wow I must really love a surprise. Aren't there more of you out there like me????

This is ME! I can't read ahead. Even with NM, I just read along. I suffered through all the pain that Bella went through, not knowing if Edward was going to return. That was TOUGH! I think it was worse the 2nd time through, though, even though I knew! Smile I can't look ahead. I won't even read what anyone else has to say about the book until I'm done. I love surprises, though.

That's a good idea! In NM when Edward asked Bella to marry him, my eyes accidentally roamed to that sentence prematurely and I was going, "Dang" :lol I have issues.

I'm one of those people that never peeks at the end... I just read really fast the first time through to get to the end faster! I was like that with the HP books and the first three books in the Twilight series. I read through them within 24 hours of getting them and then re-read each book several (and by several I mean thousands of) times!

I have been reading some of the fanfic recently and I just can't take it ! It is making me soooooo anxoius to know what the outcome will be for Bella and Edward. August 2nd can't get here fast enough...... Mad

I read until it gets to the suspenseful part, then I skip and read the last few pages...then get back to the action. I'm a peeker.
