There's alot of times you just want to feed Edward some milk and cookies cause the kid is so tortured all the time!

But what part of the series made you saddest for Edward?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'll share mine first. The saddest part for me was reading Twilight the second time and realizing post-Meadow, Edward had exactly one whole day to imagine that he may be able to have a normal, wonderfully mundane courtship with Bella. They had a slumber party post-meadow and confided in eachother over so many things, they had breakfast together, he asks to be introduced to her dad as her bf, he introduces his girl to the family, he sneaks in a couple kisses, he takes her to play baseball, he gets to show off to his girl how good he is at playing. It's all very mainstreet USA, apple pie and sweet.

And it's SO sad in retrospect cause he's SO joyful in that part of the book, and really imagines that their days as a couple would be filled with many days like that one day they had in peace. THOSE STUPID SKANKS VICTORIA AND JAMES!LOL

So...what part of the story tugs at your heart the most when it comes to Edward? I know there's alot of them!

My heart broke for him when he called Forks during New Moon and was told that Charlie was at the funeral. In that one misunderstood moment, his eternity was over and I was crushed for him.

My saddest part is when Jacob comes to the school to talk to him in Eclipse. Jacob focuses on memories of Bella when he was away and Edward has the same look of pain on his face from when he was being tortured from Jane. He was able to see firsthand just how much pain Bella was in.

There are so many times but I think mine is the obvious. When he's holding Bella, while she's crying for Jacob. That must have been beyond hard. I think Stephenie said it was his own personal hell.

When he comforts Bella after she "breaks up" with Jake tore me up!! Not so much during the comforting, but in the morning when he asks her if she is sure that she maked the right choice. For him to question that when just 24 hours earlier he knew for sure nearly killed me!!

I'm right there with Pixie, qjmom, and redsweater.

Any and all the parts of when he was with Bella during her break up time with Jacob. He doesn't understand that when he left it was even harder for her. He just sees what this is doing to her at that time. And since he wants her to be happy, and doesn't understand that it is him that makes her happy, this is hard for him to fully understand.

That's just what I was going to say. Edward is so confident, so to see him so intensely vulnerable, willing to give her up for her own happiness. It's crushing. I'm happy she was willing to go with his whole dream of marriage after that, because he needed some kind of assurance of her love, that her mourning was over (mostly) and she was ready to move on with him.

I also wanted to add--the first time I read the books I didn't really grasp how mundane and lonely Edward's life was before Bella. But each time I go back and read the books and see his transformation, it makes me sad for him pre-Bella and I just fall in love with the story more!

The "brake up" with Jake is the worse for me too. But I have another: the one in the camp when Jake had to warm Bella and all the jelousy that Edward had to cope, It was really sad for him

"Oh no, Bella, no!" the angel's voice cried in horror.
..."Bella, please! Bella, listen to me, please, please, Bella, please!" he begged.
Yes, I wanted to say. Anything. But I couldn't find my lips.
"Carlisle!" the angel called, agony in his perfect voice.
"Bella, Bella, no, oh please, no, no!" And the angel was sobbing tearless, broken sobs.

THAT has got be one of the saddest Edward moments for me...Just rereading it made my heart break and eyes tear up. I can only imagine the grief he felt at this moment!

I always felt sorry for Edward when Jacob was keeping Bella warm in Eclipse. You know Edward wished to be in Jacob's place, but he knew that Jacob was the only one who could help Bella at that moment. He must have been so frustrated!

I can't imagine being Edward when he is listening to Jacobs thoughts when Bella asks Jacob to kiss her  *heart breaks*

There are just SO many times that I really feel sad for Edward. One of the saddest parts is definitely right after he pulls James off of her. I can totally hear the anguish in his voice! And then he's torn right after that, trying to decide whether he's strong enough to suck the venom out. It's so sad, but sweet at the same time. Then, another is when he thinks that Bella is dead in New Moon. The extra that SM did on her site from Edward's point of view during that whole phone call really makes me sad. I want to cry every time I read it. Then, definitely when Bella is crying over Jacob. My heart really goes out to him there. Just too much saddness! But, I'm very glad that she went ahead with the wedding. It really shows him that she loves him and can't live without him.

I completely agree. This time through (3rd  )I really got a grasp on the sadness of it all. Truly heart-wrenching for Edward to go from the elation of Bella wanting/agreeing to marry him and then having to watch her grieve over Jacob.

I have to agree with the part in the ballet studio wondering if he was strong enough that he would stop once the venom was out. Also, definitely the part after she's done with Jacob and she is just crying. I can imagine her being totally hysterical and all he can do is hold her. Very heartbreaking since he feels so bad that she's hurting.
