That pretty close to what I had in my mind. I kept thinking of Jessica Alba when she was on Dark Angel. Hilary Swank is too old, Melanie is only 21 at the most.

i like Camilla Belle as her too but with shorter hair. i have seen her act and i think this would be a perfect role for her.

Hilary Swank can definitely do the stronger, athletic look...she did it in Million Dollar Baby as a boxer, I think she could pull it off in this movie as well. In fact, I chose her as my pick for the movie, and was glad to see that someone else thought the same.

Also, someone said that Hilary Swank is too old...Melanie may be young, but at the same time she has gone through a lot in the few years previous, so I honestly think that would age your looks a little. I don't think Hilary looks too old for the part. Just my opinion.

Zooey Deschanel is actually my favorite actress but I've never seen her pull off anything as serious as The Host would be. It would be interesting.

When I was reading it I kept thinking of the girl who plays Rosalie (I am blanking on her name) with her natural brown hair and a tan.

Ooooh Rachel Bilson would make a good Melanie. I think she's my favorite of everybody that's been thrown out there. I really like Evangeline Lily too but I think she's a bit too old for the part.
