It's called TRUE BLOOD.

oooooo maybe we'll get some fricky-fricky since it IS HBO after all.... :oops:

I read somewhere it's based on the Southern Vampire series... I ordered some books after someone here suggested them but haven't started them yet... anyone else familiar with this?

Really? ohhhh I was so sad when The Soprano's ended. I love Entourage too. They really have great original shows. Where I live it's only $9 a month from Direct TV so I considered it a bargain! :lol:

But then I had to add Showtime too because of The Tudors.... <sigh> what can you do? :roll:

I'm reading the Southern Vampire series right now, but I haven't heard anything about the HBO show! And there is definetly some freaky, freaky in these vamp books!!

I will look into it!

Anna Paquin plays the lead... i saw a preview a few nights ago on HBO and then found more info on line... but no air date...?

It's based on a series of books by Charlaine Harris. There are 7 books so far and another one is due out this spring. The first one is called Dead Until Dark. The books are fun and quirky and, at times, rather sexy.

I love Anna Paquin but she doesn't fit my vision of the protagonist, Sookie, at all. Nor does the actor cast as Bill. HBO normally does a good job with their productions, though, so I'm going to reserve judgement until I see it.

There's no air date as yet but I believe it's supposed to be sometime in 2008.

There's another vampire series based on books called Blood Ties. It's on Lifetime (I know, strange, huh?) but I think it's on hiatus right now. You can watch past episodes on their website. The lead vamp, Henry, is very yummy. Short but yummy! I've read the first book in the series and I actually like the show better than the book.

His character is written that way in the books. He's supposed to be the illegitimate son of Henry the Eighth and I guess they made smaller vamps back then ;)
