So here was my day today. First of all, i was SO excited last night that i could'nt sleep. i am sure you all understand who made it to the other locations. I was sure that it was all a spoof and the dates would be wrong or my friend got her info wrong etc! And then I told myslef that i wouldn't get to see actors becasue i heard they were done last week. I figured i would only get to see outside shots of the crew filming facades....although i held out for the possibility it would go better than all of that!
So i got to the Hyatt in then center of Valencia where i live this morning at 9 and the crew said they were already wrapping up, they started inside at the crack of dawn. Everything was all set up the night before so they just did the scenes and went straight to their trailors. This guy Jeff who was awesome and made everyone believe i was a crew member later in the day so i could hang out by his equipment truck told me to walk around back to see the actors and i wouldnt do it. i walked back there but did not go into the partitioned off area. i am a ninny!!!
Around 10am i got word from another friend of mine that her sister-in-law saw a house in her neighborhood (and didnt know about the movie and just so happened to say how ugly this house was to my friend who knew i was looking for the house...wierd) that had been painted terra-cotta in the past few days that had new cactuses ans south west junk stuck all over the yard and in the hillside around it. BINGO, i knew i had the scene of the house, and when i got there it was indeed the place. i camped out for an hour with my son and then had to split to get my daughter from shcool and go pee and get my TM shirt and pawn the kids off on friends so i could go back the house!!! I got back around 1:30 and they were finally setting up. Calicat had gotten their by that time and 2 Twi-teens. My friend who found the house showed up as well. We were there a few minuted when we noticed Catherine Hardwick moving around the location moving cactuses and other front yard junky stuff...can you say Tack-a-licious? it was so purposely TACK-I-FIED!!! I just wanted to say, "Oh Renee, lets redo your yard, I'll call the gardening center and home depot for some paint!" BUt of course it was a set and tacky on purpose.
So THEN Catherine looks up and smiles from across the street and waves, smiles and says HI to us. we weren't calling her or anything, just watchng them move things around. After a few minutes she comes across the street and SO CHEERFULLY says "Well Hello, do you guys want to get some pictures together?" or something to that affect! It was so SWEET and amazing. she just came right over!! She was so bouncy and wonderful and pleasant to everyone around her! Well, that filled us up with pride for a while. we jsut watched for the next bit and then saw Kristin's double emerge with a jacket on, Kristin was wearing the same outfit with her jacket hanging out of her pocket. Catherine was setting up scenes with the double and figuring the lighting etc. THEN KRISTIN EMERGED as cute as a button and shy looking and walked through the same steps practicing with Catherine.
During this time i made buddies with Jeff the crew memebr and hung out with him across the street to get more access and a better view. it worked becasue the location director thought i was with the guys and offered me a place to sit in the shade and something to drink (water). I declined becasue i wanted to see what was going on. I had everyone (but the guys) fooled utnil Kristin decided to take the walk to the TM's side of the street to sign some books and take photos....and dumb me squeeled and started booking over there to get my photo! Kristin was not even aksed to come over, no one called her name. She just smiled and started across the street and asked the girls if they wanted their books signed! SO SWEET! Well needless to say the site director wondered why i booked across the street squeeling. The guys let the cat out of the bag that i was a fan and not a crew memember, DARN! but she let me hang our more anyways. We took picts and then Kristin went on up the street and came back to the set and back to work.
In the meatime the owner of the house was palling around with us taking photos and watching. He was telling us how he recieved several notices on his door before he realized that they were requests to film at his house. He told his 28 (?) year old son about it and low-and-behold the son had read 2 of the books...hee hee hee!
Well the day was getting along and i had to go get my kids from a friends house and get home to a rescheduled piano lesson. That was about it!! It was long winded, sorry, but so fun! We see actors all the time in our area becasue a ton live out in Valencia area so we are desensitized; thus the crew was wondering why i was making a big deal....i told them to read the books...DUH! These were my favorite characters immortalized out of the pages and into human bodies...it doesnt get better than that!!!! Enjoy the pictures and i am sure CaliCat will give her story later when she gets home!! THere were some other teens showed up that waited at the hotel and DID get to see Rob, with "Alice and Jasper". Drat!
