Okay I don't see any threads devoted to this topic nor do I think it would belong in the "How many times.." thread.

My question is this:

What things did you miss the first time you read through all the books?

I missed the importance of the silver Volvo and why it was pointed out on Bella's first day at school. Also, didn't realize that the reason her window didn't stick like she thought it would was because Edward had been sneaking through her window at night to spy on her. In New Moon, I missed that the snorting animal sound Bella heard in the woods was actually Sam Uley (I believe) as a werewolf. I also didn't realize that Jacob was so tall! He is much taller than Edward.

Well the sound from the woods has not been confirmed, as far as I know. It's still just speculation.

The one thing that pops out to me is that Carlisle father hunted werewolves. I picked up on the witches and vampires, but the werewolves never stuck.

I missed so much not just the first time through, but the second, third and am still finding new things on the fifth time.

I missed the snuffling when Bella was in the forest too. I do think it was Sam as a werewolf.
I missed that Father Marcus who drove the vampires out of Volterra is Marcus of the Volturi.
I missed that Edward was watching Bella sleep in Charlie's yard. (again one not confirmed but I think it will be in MS)
I missed how funny and witty Edward was during thier first lunch at school together (when Bella asks if he is hungary, he says no and laughs at an inside joke)
I missed that Edward had been in Bella's room the night before they go to the meadow and that she had laid out what she was going to wear and then Edward shows up in the same thing.

That is just a few that I can think of. I just started Twilight for my 5th time and am sure I will have some "OHHHHH!" moments again!

Actually, I'm pretty sure that Edward watching Bella sleep in the yard has been confirmed - not sure where I saw it, probably at the Lex (personal correspondence) or on Stephanie's site under Q&A.

I thought I had pretty much caught everything after reading all the books so many times, but you threw me - I never put it together that Edward was wearing the same thing because he'd seen what she set out to wear. Thanks!

I must have missed that too! I have been wondering how he knew what she was wearing that day (since he couldn't really read her mind). Hey, do you think Alice may have told him since she could probably "see" what Bella decided to wear?

Yeah, I didn't gety that either I thought he was genuinly surprised when he started laughing that they matched.

Okay so now I will have to re-vamp the series. I feel as if there is so much that I have missed. I never had thought about his matching Bella the day in the meadow because he was in her room the night before.

We will find out for sure in MS, but I think that Edward was hunting the night before they went to the meadow - I don't think that he watched Bella sleep that night. I believe that Edward was genuinely surprized by the matchy-matchy outfits.

I missed Edward's "sense of humour" in the first half of Twilight as well - it has been so much fun revamping now that I know what he is referring too. He has such a wicked sense of humour! Ahh...Edward.

The other thing that I have noticed more this time around is the pain Bella felt when Edward left. I know that when I read it the first time I was expecting more of a breakdown (like what I would do..tears and depression) but she internalized that pain and it came out in different ways (as I'm discovering since I am paying more attention to it this time around). I have felt more much in tune with Bella and it HURTS me to know what she has been going through. I am **Shocked** actually grateful for Jacob and the friendship that he is providing her.

The thing I missed most the first time I read the books, was the depth of character of each one. I was so busy oogling over the story, that I didn't really see how fascinating Edward, Bella, Jacob etc. were the first go round. I still find myself finding new things and I have read each of the books an minimum of 9 times now!

Okay, so I've now read each book (no joke) at least ten times since the end of Nov. and each time I read them something new stands out to me. I'm there w/ most of you on the things I missed the first time around. You know something that stood out to me this last time reading Twilight, is the fact that a girl name Jessica is mentioned w/ the kids from the rez when they're all at first beach, but she's never been mentioned again in New Moon or Esclipse. I'm sure there's more people on the rez than those mentioned in New Moon, but why mention Jessica and then not again. Now in my mind I'm wondering if that means she'll be back in the next book or what....

Hmm...I don't know. Maybe she will. I personally thought it was just something that caught Bella's attention cause she's "friends" with a Jessica. She also thinks of the name "Jessica" early in Twilight when the real Jessica is describing the Cullens. She is thinking how all their names are old fashioned & that maybe it's a trend in small towns. Then she remembers that her new "friend" is named Jessica, and that 2 other girls from back home in her history class were named Jessica too. I think cause of all this, it just catches her attention.

Totally missed this! I'm almost through with a revamp......dang! I guess I'll have to start all over again when I'm finished!

I missed so many tiny details that I had to re-vamp the books over 10 times to finally get them!!!
I love that in Twilight on page 14 Bella says as she sits in her truck in the parking lot of Forks High School on the first day of school: I can do this, I lied to my self feebly. No one was going to bite me. I finally exhaled and stepped out of my truck.
Also, just about the 8th or 9th time that I was reading Twilight when Bella was in the hospital in Phoenix, AZ and finding out what her alibi was for explaining her injuries to her mother, Renee...what about the 53 Chevy truck that Bella was suppose to drive/run away in from Charlie? Shouldn't it have ended up somewhere in Phoenix, AZ? Perhaps Rosalie and/or Esme drove it down? Because Emmett & Jasper had to get rid of James. Charlie & Edward tended to Bella while Alice made up the evidence for Bella's "accident." Just wondering.
