Explore the symbolism of Naomi’s being found as a baby in a typewriter case. How else are typewriters and books relevant to her story?

Maybe this seems too obvious, but I think it ties in to the whole school - yearbook editor - yearbook photographer thing. It also symbolizes (and I am reaching for this one) that she had an opportunity as an orphan to write her own story and then again when she had amnesia to re-write her story again. Does that make sense?

I don't think you were reaching here. I was thinking almost the exact same thing.

JavenStar that was totally along the lines of what I was thinking as well. Thanks for stating it so eloquently!

I agree with you all. Also, Will wrote Naomi a letter stating all what happened the day of the incident at the beginning of the book. Seems symbolic since this is a time of e-mails and cell phones.

Good point...but for Will that is not out of the ordinary at all - he seems so old fashioned! Just the type who would use a typewriter...and just the right type for Naomi

I agree with JaevenStar I think that Naomi had a chance after the accident to re-write her story and go forward from there. She was able to change the direction her life may have been going in before the accident towards a new direction. A direction she may not have seen before the accident.
