I assist in directing an after school program that provides art lessons to kids until their parents are able to pick them up after work. A few of our older girls (12-13 age range) would forgo recess so that they could sit under a tree and read these thick books with dark covers. They kept telling me about these books with vampires and I thought it sounded so silly. Little did I know that there would come a day when I would forgo weekend plans in order to stay home and read all things Twilight related until there was nothing left!
Back when I was their age, I read a book called The China Garden and have kept my paperback copy all these years, even though it's desperately falling apart. It wasn't until I read Twilight that I found something to compete with The China Garden. Now, both of these books sit side by side on my shelf, perfect friends! Now I'm the one on the playground with the girls, discussing a chapter in New Moon, questioning something Bella said or Edward did. It's like my own book club, but I'm the only one over 13!
