Book -- Does anyone know the title...(YA Vampire series)

There was a book (perhaps a trio) published in the mid-nineties that reminds me a lot of Twilight and I cannot remember the title for the life of me - it is also packed up in a box somewhere in my parents house.

In this story, the vampire is a girl and she turns human in the end. I remember that the end of the story has the girl and guy riding on a horse. I also remember there was a scene where the girl purchased contact lenses to change her appearence (I think she was hiding from someone).

Like Twilight, there is a scene where the girl vamp climbs in through a window and watches a boy sleep. He wakes up (I think she was going to bite him) and they start talking. She is pretending to be a student at his school and I think there was a scene where ye olde computer was destroyed by her.

The cover of the book was a brownish black and showed a girl with long black hair.

I want to say that it was like Vampire Love or Vampire Diary (NOT L.J. Smith's Vampire Diaries). If it was more than one book - each volume is small (100 to 200 pages).

Does this sound familiar to anyone? If not, I will have to ransack my parent's house when I go to visit next.

Is it Blood Curse and Blood Spell by Janice Harrell?

Has anyone read Sunshine by Robin McKinley? This was recomended by a lady in Barnes and Noble. Haven't read it yet. It is a vampire book and I was told it is good. Once I read it I will let you know what I thought.

I read this hot on the tail of the Twilight series so I think my review might be a little jaded. I thought it was just "okay". Some time (and lots of other books) has passed since I read it so I can't give a very insightful review but the "vampire with a conscience" thing is explored here as well as magic. Sunshine is likeable enough as a character but the vampire pales (ha, ha) in comparison to Edward (or the rest of the Cullens for that matter)

I just read Bitten (book 1) and Stolen (book 2) by Kelley Armstrong this week. They are part of the women of the Otherworld Series. There are others in the series that I will have to pick up from the library. I really enjoyed these books - more than most of the others I have read lately. The main character is a female werewolf (the only female) but vampires show up in book 2. There is some violence and swearing but a very good story line and a lot of tension. There is also sex but not romance novel play-by-play descriptions.

I picked up Stolen from a library used book sale about a month ago for free, and wasn't sure it was something I would like. But I read it and ended up liking it too. It started a little slow for me, but it ended up being a pretty good. I was just thinking that I would try to find the others in the series :)

I just finished Sunshine and I was dissappointed. I thought there was too much explanation and not enough story. It started out good but the story just got lost in all the explanations. The main vampire is not in the story enough. I found myself skipping ahead to read the parts that he is in. I guess I just wanted more interaction with the vampire. :(

Hi there I have read a few vampire books recently ones that may be of interest to you are :

The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova - this is most definately an adult book, its main idea is that dracula is still alive its more of a detective type/adventure/thriller and there isnt that much vampire action but it is a very good read this is being made into a movie also.

I agree that 'The Historian' is a good read. It's been compared to 'The DaVinci Code' in many aspects. The ending was a bit abrupt but the story as a whole was riveting.

Are you all looking for racy romance vampire stories or some good old fashioned vampire stories? I can recommend some from the latter.

Here's another one I read this week (I think my dabbling into the vampire genre is a bit out of control!).

Sweet Blood by Pete Hautman. I actually really liked this book. It is a teen novel but does not have the rampant "teen speak" found in so many others. It is about a girl who has a theory that the idea of vampires came from untreated diabetics in the middle ages. She has diabetes herself and spends time on vampire "chat groups" etc as she tries to figure out who she is. It was really kind of fascinating and one I would recommend.

Also this week I read the four vampire books by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes. The first was published when she was thirteen and they are also quite good! Very interesting vampire world, the books are short and relatively clean. The first book is not as polished as the three that follow.

I'm reading The Historian right now. I'm looooving it- it's one of the most well-written books I've read in a long time. I didn't know it was going to be made into a movie- cool!

If anyone is into manga or graphic novels, I would recommend the Vampire Knight series by Matsuri Hino (you can also find the anime to download on torrent sites if you would rather watch it). The artwork is beautifully drawn and you made just develop a crush on one of the characters (a la Edward)!

Just incase it hasn't been mentioned in awhile I recommend the Black Dagger Brotherhood Series. I'm addicted and have managed to take some my friends down with me. Fair warning though they're a little smutty. And by a little I mean a lot. But really who doesn't need a little smut in their lives. Right? :D

Thanks Keisha. Other people have suggested that one to me too. I have the 1st 2 on my shelves. Unfortunately, they are sett behind the Anita Blake Series and the Outlander series.
