This would be considered a YA series, but Cirque Du Freak by Darren Shan is a good series to read.

I love Lauren Willig's Pink Carnation series. They're sort of my guilty pleasure reads. They're historical fiction, but kind of light and fluffy. There are four books out now, with the 5th to be released early in '09 I think.
I'm also obsessed with Jasper Fforde's Thursday Next novels. Those are hard to describe but they're fabulous! The first one is The Eyre Affair and they just keep getting better.

I read the first one when it came out and I like it. I forgot about those. I guess I need to add those to my "to read" list.

? SUGGESTIONS - Fairy Books

I really loved Holly Black's- Tithe,Valiant and Ironside. I want to read more books about fairies. Anyone have good sugestions??

childofthe80s wrote:
Melissa Marr's Wicked Lovely. (and Ink Exchange is out but I can't find it yet)

O.R. Melling's The Summer King, Hunter's Moon, and Light Bearer's Daughter

Frewin Jones' The Faerie Pate

Holly Black also has a series called The Spiderwick Chronicles. It's geared more for middle grade kids but I liked them.

I love faerie books!

I Was a Teenage Fairy by Francesca Lia Block

Her books are magical in general. They don't always have fairies in them, but there's always something about her books.

These fall more in the paranormal romance category, but I like Yasmine Galenorn's Sisters of the Moon series. It's about a trio of half-fairy sisters and each has her own special abilities.

duplicate suggestion thread - most of these already have their own threads

I saw where someone had mention Nora Roberts, and I love all of her stuff. Lots of trilogies, always a romance novel but with some major plot out side of the romance. She has a series out now called the Sign of 7. But even better than that is her books as J. D. Robb! It is long series of books starting with Naked in Death (I think). They are all "in Death" titles because the main character is a Female homicide detective. It is a fairly dark series but sooooo good!!!

Ditto on the J.D. Robb. In Death series by J.D. Robb, too many to name but Naked in Death is the first novel.

Outlander series by Gabaldon goes without saying and has been mentioned enough times. :)

Kushiel's Legacy by Jacqueline Carey. The first trilogy: Kushiel's Dart / Kushiel's Chosen / Kushiel's Avatar. I have this up there with my love of the Outlander series, but warning there are a few "adult" themes in this series that some may not be comfortable with. If you can get past it, its really a fascinating and amazing read.

Light Bearer books by Donna Gillespie. The Light Bearer / Lady of the Light

The Sevenwaters Trilogy: by Juliet Marillier. Daughter of the Forest / Son of the Shadows / Child of the Prophecy

Oh man here I go...

-The Gemma Doyle series by Libba Bray
---A Great And Terrible Beauty, Rebel Angels, The Sweet Far Thing

- The Modern Faerie Tale series by Holly Black
--- Tithe, Valiant, Ironside

- The Guardians Of Time Trilogy by Marianne Curley
--- The Named, The Dark, The Key (I must say these are amazing and very original)

- The Mercy Thompson Series by Patricia Briggs
--- Moon Called, Blood Bound, Iron Kissed (soon Bone Crossed and then 3 more!) and in July Cry Wolf which is a spinoff of the series.

- The Uglies series by Scott Westerfield
--- Uglies, Pretties, Specials, Extras

- The Blue Bloods series by Melissa De La Cruz
--- Blue Bloods, Masquerade, Revelations (soon)

- The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor
--- The Looking Glass Wars, Seeig Redd (These books are AMAZING! a complete re-imagining of Alice in Wonderland)

- The Kiesha'ra series by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes
--- Hawksong, Snake Charm, Falcon Dance, Wolf Cry, and Wyvern Hall (the author sucks you in from the beginning, amazing)

- The Den Of Shadows series by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes(VAMPIRE books... with yummy vamps)
--- In The Forests of the Night, Demon In My View, Shattered Mirror, Midnight Predator (all of which recently got nifty new covers)

- The Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare
---City of Bones, City of Ashes, City of Glass (soon)

- The Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evonavich (FRIGGIN hilarious books)

Oh man.... thats all I can think of for now, I really encourage The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor to be read. Hes a screen writer and producer as well as an author, so he wrote the screen plays for his books that hes soon turning into movies as well as producing them. An author who wrote their own screen plays?? You know that those movies are going to be AMAZING =)

I absolutely LOVE this series... it isn't vampire at all, but there is still a lot of fantasy and the characters are awesome, well written.

The Belgarion series by David Eddings.

1. Pawn of Prophecy
2. Queen of Sorcery
3. Magician's Gambit
4. Castle of Wizardry
5. Enchanters' End Game
6. Seeress of Kell

The first books I read were from V.C Andrews, she has a lot of 5 book series, I couldn't ever put them down! I own a lot of them and want to read some again, its been since high school (I'm 23 now) But they are not quite young adult books, more sexy.

Anyone else read any?

Haa, I have read several of VC Andrews as well! Well, the last ones aren't written by her at all though.

The Flowers in the Attic Series
My Sweet Audrina (very odd)

and I know I read the other one with all the jewel names, but I can't remember them now, it's been too long!
