I'm now starting with Dangers book and it feels a bit strange. Suddenly you know, what you have guessed the whole time, Ash is....son. You know, what I mean. And Alexion, strange.....

But now, I've done the half, can't wait to get to the next books, because everybody is drooling over Rayvn and Xypher and I don't know why. And Ash, what is happening?

Sorry, Sunne leaves to keep reading.....

You're waiting for your book to arrive? Don't worry, it's worth the wait! I was driving myself crazy because I was out of the country when it came out and had to wait until I came back to read it.

But if I can offer up some advice? Please read part one before part two!! It makes it all the more special!!

Happy reading!

I thought I'd post a copy of this here as well...since I was singing the DH praises:

ACK! My post went into the black hole *note to self, start working in word, copy and paste!*

Alright, I had this super long post where I explained my views on the whole BDB vs. DH thing. I just hope I remember most of the points that I wanted to make...

First of all, when I raised the question of DH vs. BDB, I meant as in battle, not the literary value of each series. But I have to answer my own question with " who knows? They each have unique talents and superhuman strengths....". I still think my DH boys have a slight advantage, especially those with god and half-god powers.

As to the series themselves- again the answer is complicated. I find merit and things I particularly like in both. I love the fierce loyalty between the Brothers and the dual natures of the Brothers (fierce fighters become gentle devotees to their mates). What I've always had a bit of an issue with in the BDB series, is the writer's style. This is all personal preference of course but the whole gangsta thang annoys me a little after awhile and JR's style of writing isn't my favorite, truth be told.

On that same note, I've never had to reread a Dark Hunter passage (well for meaning at least...lord knows I've reread quite a bit but for pure pleasure :D) Also, I love the mythology tie-in. Furthermore, sarcasm is yet another language that I speak and Sherrilyn has some smarmy-mouthed characters! In my opinion (for what it's worth) Sherrilyn has the advantage over JR in witty dialogue.

I fall hard for characters I love and both have given me people that I still adore. Sherrilyn has a lot more books so again she has a slight advantage. While her characters may be less bulked up, they seem to be more complex as well. I kind of like that in her world, some of the bad guys have redeeming qualities and the good guys aren't necessarily without fault.

Well, before this fades into another black hole, I guess I should wrap up! I guess I'll be the first to say that, while I'm eagerly anticipating the next BDB book, if I have to choose which series I prefer over the others, I'm going to choose the Dark Hunter.

Ash's book is a really great read!!

Just an FYI (because I know I keep forgetting) that besides Stryker's book in November, Sherrilyn has a short story in a collection of four stories (including one by JR Ward of Black Dagger Brotherhood fame) that is due out on Dec. 2.

Sherrilyn's short story involves a she-were and Fury's clan. JR's is about a vamp and the other two stories are about a ghost and someone with supernatural powers.

What I found funny is that one of the other two authors is named Susan Squires (which totally reminds me of Ravyn!) and her short story is titled "Seize the Night" (the title of Valerius's book). Sherrilyn *MUST* have laughed at the irony....

Hi all - so I know I've been pretty absent lately --- I moved 100 miles with my family and went from working at home to an office & even had a 5 day New Orleans trip in late August mixed into the last 2 months of my life...........

But I had to post tonight. yesterday I finished Dream Chaser (Xypher's story) and I was so in love. (((((kendra - I mailed it to you today))))).

So this morning I took my car in for an oil change/tire rotation and had 2 hours (I know - crazy amount of time - but its a VW Taureg and they claimed to need to remove some part & adjust some switches and whatever else) so I started Ash's book in the waiting room.

At this time I'm about 2 chapters into the "Acheron" portion (I'm assuming this is part 2).

Let me start by saying that part 1 ------ while hard to read in some parts----- is so intrinsic and important to the story I can't imagine any TRUE fan skipping it. I have read in various places (not here really) that people are censoring their reading and skipping the first part.

I will make a stand right here that to skip the first part is to betray Ash's story and character in a manner that is inexcusable to me. It may be hard to read in parts but its' him dammit. It's his character.

I liken it to skipping some chapters in Outlander. Yeah, the prison scenes. Who would Jamie be save those horrible experiences?

I liken it to skipping personal analysis in some chapters in Wuthering Heights. yeah, the uncomfortable hatred stuff - hating good people and making their lives miserable because we are.

I liken it to skipping a great book series because of something someone we know IRL takes offense to in a personal nature yet has a purpose to the author/story.

We read because it entertains us. We read because it educates us. Educates us in not exactly text book ways all the time, but maybe emotional ways. Maybe copasetic human nature ways. Maybe fiber threads that run through all of us or at least our secret desires.

So I am enthusiastically saying ..... read until your head explodes people to get to Ash's story.............................

and PS - Kendra my dear book pimp friend........... you are on your own and need to order Acheron because I ain't giving this book up for hell or high water.
