Okay, so I'm thinking about a post I made where I said I really don't know why Edward loves Bella so much.

My task for anyone who will participate is for you to list 3-5 things about Bella that you find likeable, admirable, or unique.

You might also include why a particular trait would be especially attractive to someone like Edward, but only if you want to elaborate that much.

TIA for your help, and now I'll start the list with my top three:

1. Bella is not materialistic at all. (Sometimes it's to the point of hurting people's feelings but I'm still glad money and prestige mean nothing to her).

2. She takes care of people.

3. She freely accepts people's differences, even truly bizarre ones.

I think #3 above is really attractive to Edward, both in a general sense of her being a humanitarian as well as a deeply personal one. At first he can't believe she's not terrified and revolted by the Cullen family, and even as he starts to accept that she accepts him as he is, part of him is still waiting for her to wake up and realize he's a monster. Yet her love for him only continues to flourish and grow, and I think this must be incredibly valuable to someone who has to live on the fringe of society and not let people get close.

I agree with all so far!

1 She is much more responsible than most 17-18yr olds today. Which makes her somewhat old fashion - this would definately appeal to anyone over 80.

2 She is self-driven

3 She is observant and still remains compassionate.

4 She is so selfless unless there is a motorcycle or cliff around

1. She doesn't "run with the crowd" (my favorite character trait of hers)

2. She stands by her beliefs and convictions; not falling victim to other's
pressures.

3. She is not superficial. Her ability to look deeper within someone and
find even the slightest of goodness is admirable.

4. Her maturity; especially when dealing with her parents. Her responses
to them in even the most heated of discussions is not that of a typical
teenage girl.

She was amazing enough to make Edward fall in love with her when he had given up on love for 80+ years and against his better judgement. That's enough for me.

No, I love her integrity, honesty, maturity, selflessness, insecurity, clutziness, wit, and dry sense of humor.

Intelligence

Humility...although pride can rear its ugly head if this one goes too far and I think for her sometimes it does...but overall, she holds herself no higher than any other person out there. That's incredible. And also a little something that Edward can learn from. And Jacob.

You know, I really love that about her, too.

Everyone is offering such good thoughts! I don't think I've been giving Bella enough credit. I'm so bedazzled by Edward that I hardly notice her.....J/K !

Reasons why I like Bella, and why I think Edward likes her:
(I know some of these are repeats)

1.) She's real, as in down-to-earth. Her mind has more depth than the average human. What I love about this fact is that he doesn't have to read her thoughts to know this, he can see that in her actions.

2.) She is accepting. Bella is unique in so many ways, and is open to other unique beings.

3.) Her frailty & clumsiness, and the fact that she is a danger magnet. I sort of can't help but think that he enjoys protecting her. Of course it must stress him out, but what man doesn't enjoy fulfilling their manly protection duties?

Ok, just one more.

4.) She is deathly loyal. She's got your back.

And my fave:
5.) Her wicked sense of humor.....GAH that girl rocks.

That's so true. I absolutely get the sense that he finds her awkwardness endearing and it makes him feel needed.

I think he's charmed by the contrast between her feisty spirit and physical frailty. I mean, it's easy for Alice to take on obstacles, she knows she's nearly invincible. But there goes Bella, charging into danger without a care for her own safety, and she's not only NOT invincible, she's Miss Ground Zero, the walking (stumbling) disaster zone. Now THAT takes nerve!

Gosh, peoples...I was fond of Bella before but I think I'm really falling in love with her now. Thank you so much for your responses. I hope you keep them coming :)

Great thread Shimmerskin. I love Bella. Makes me sad when I hear people call her whiney and a lot worse  . Glad to see all of her good traits pointed out!

I'm a little late here, but my reasons are:

1. She's funny (sarcasm - love it!)
2. She's mature/responsible/respectful for a girl her age (I was responsible, but I spent the entire 2nd semester of my junior year grounded for mouthing off. :( )
3. She's persistent, and not in an annoying way.
