I know its silly but I find myself wondering about non essential little details while I'm reading. Does anyone else wonder...

...are Bella and Jacob the only two teenagers in western civilization that still don't have cell phones? Even the low income kids have them here.

...are the Cullens domestic? I know they don't cook but who cleans? Can you picture Alice rolling her eyes and punching Jasper in the arm for throwing his clothes on the floor or Emmet for not wiping his feet before coming in from hunting?

...what do Edward and Bella do about 'that time of the month'. He must know, wouldn't it bother him?

... why do Emmet and Rosali share a bedroom but Alice and Jasper not?

...what do the couples do about Vampire hearing on 'those' nights - or worse yet - Edward's mind reading. How embarassing?!

This one has been answered....alot....so period blood is dead blood and it doesn't bother Edward during that time for Bella.

I don't think there are any vampire maid services so I would imagine they have to clean up after themselves. I'll bet Esme is pretty meticulous. Yes, Jasper and Alice share a room.

Poor Edward, he gets to hear and see all those things in his head that he's hasn't been able to do for 100 years. Ewww, pointers from your family. Gross.

1...I would think that Bella would think it would be silly to have one. When she first moves there she doesn't know anyone. Later, why would she need one when Edward is almost always with her and Alice can keep track of her easy enough. (her own version of AAA) :)

2...I think Esme would be the domestic one. She does interior design or restoring or something like that right?

3...I think all of the Cullen's are respectful of each others need for privacy. Especially Edward. I am sure that they work at giving each other private or alone time at home. Or maybe they go to a B&B or the meadow?

here are my unrelated thoughts (or are they?)....

Does anyone else think its funny that they Gym teachers name is Coach Clapp??? ha ha ha

On P 75 of twilight when edward was telling bella that it would be better if they aren't friends, "trust me" he says and she thinks "My eyes narrowed. i'd hear that one before." who has she heard that from?

any thoughts?

Jacob is really low income (can't even afford more tennis shoes poor). Bella I do not know the answer to.

Esme is domestic, I imagine. She's a mom at heart.

Stephenie has answered this. Bleeding at that time of the month is not the same kind of blood that comes from a cut...it's tissue. Also, of course he notices that time of the month and of course he ignores it and never says anything about it.

missytx wrote:

Alice and Jasper do, but everything is Alice's. Jasper could care less about it all, and Alice picked it all out, so it is really hers. And Jasper is okay with that because all he wants is her...quite the man if you ask me.

In another Q&A she talks about how all of the Cullens have found ways to deal with Edward's "gift." Ways to keep him out and him ways to stay out. Also, I imagine that they go hunting when they don't want to hear anything. Plus Edward has a pretty awesome music set up for the those nights to tune out everything else.

Yes.

She's well read. My guess is she's "heard" it in the movies and read it in books. It's a thought/excuse I've heard from other sources at least.

I wonder if she had a crush on a boy/boys in AZ and was rejected. maybe? That is what I first thought when i read that part. Like "oh lets just be friends" my heart sinks every time i think of that line.

Edward has a cell phone. I don't think he uses it much. Bella dosn't seems to talk on the phone much so prob. dosn't want to waste money on it. And poor Jake, I get the feeling he and Billy don't have a lot of anything.

I'm guessing domesticity is pretty much a non-issue for the Cullens.

They can move so fast that housework must be a snap, plus their house probably doesn't get too dirty--no cooking, no toilet, no hair and body oils, etc. Just the basic dusting and vacuuming, right? I wonder, do they bother washing the windows if it's just going to rain again in an hour?

Oh, yeah, I've always thought that was funny!

And isn't Venner the trig/calc teacher? I'm wondering if she toyed with naming him Vector and decided it was stretching a joke too far, so switched to Venner instead, which is sort of a hybrid of Venn (as in diagram) and Vector....

Nope, I was wrong. The math teacher is Varner, not Venner. My bad.

Now I have some Hmmmm? questions I hope someone will bite into:

In Eclipse, why don't the Cullens suspect that it's Victoria creating all the Seattle newborns? And why does it take Bella so long for the penny to drop? I mean, wasn't it glaringly OBVIOUS? They're sitting in that living room forever, going over and over the great mystery of who could be doing this, and why...does this bug any of you? It bugs me. They're not usually that dense.

Speaking of dense....Are vampires as heavy as they are solid? If they had to step on the scale in the gym would it register EEEEE? And if they slam dunk a basketball in P.E. are their feet likely to go right through the floor when they land?

What about their pallor? Doesn't this worry you? Our culture really doesn't value pale, pale skin so how do the Cullens seem so attractive to everyone? Actually, I can think of two examples. Nicole Kidman whose skin is alabaster white, and Marilyn Monroe whose skin was downright luminous. But I can't think of any super-white men who are considered gorgeous in our culture. Help me out here.

On a different note, why does Jasper say he and Maria only made male newborns to build their army because they wanted soldiers, yet when he's culling those just past their year-mark one of them is Charlotte? I must have missed something.

What special powers do Kate and Eleazer have? Jasper says those two would be "especially" advantageous in the fight against the Seattle marauders.

If you pull a vampire's hair hard enough will it come out? Then they'll have a bald spot, right, because they can't grow it back?

Thanks in advance for any help :)

Shimmerskin...those are some really great questions...I've never thought about how much Edward weighs...that's an interesting thought.

I'm too tired to actually think intelligently enough to answer any of your other questions...But I'm thinking that maybe the Cullens didn't suspect Victoria because it's not the first time it's happened...Why would they think that Victoria would want to build an army? I mean, they know she's after Bella, but to build up a whole army for her...I dunno. I can see where they would have overlooked that.

Super white men that are gorgeous....let me think...ummm...not counting Edward, right? Hmmm....maybe there are some older actors who had whiter skin, but nowadays tan is usually the way to go...Whether sprayed on or baked on, it seems that everyone has one! ...I'm sure there must be someone, and I'd love if someone could come up with a good white face.
