So they heard the game, and wanted to play...that's how they found them...If they had special powers like the Volturi, I'd assume they wouldn't have had to hear the game to find them...Maybe they just know where they are because they're a big group; Like other vamps know about the Denali clan and Volturi... Or maybe they can smell each other...

I'm sure in the world of vamps, the Cullens are famous. The largest coven next to the Volturi. That's big. Plus their way of life makes them a bit of an anomaly. And I am sure they get visitors who are just a little curious about them.

This is what makes me go hmmmm...

Edward tells Bella that humans can't smell blood. In virtually every murder scene of the books I've read, there is a description of the smell of blood. That's usually the first sign that someone has died brutally...the smell of the blood. So, I was researching this on the net, and it says blood smells like iron (which is what the books always say).

Did Edward mean that humans can't smell blood in such small amounts? Can humans not smell blood in the Twilight world only? I can't find this topic anywhere.

I think he did mean it that way--that Bella couldn't have smelled blood that wasn't pooling in copious quantities somewhere or splattered around a room; he thinks she's just imagining she smells it because she's so afraid of needles and all.

Then she describes the smell for him, and she doesn't just say it smells metallic, like most people would. She says it smells like rust and salt. I think he's amazed that she can pick out individual components of oxidized iron and inorganic serum salts, like potassium and sodium.

*slapping forhead* So I'm a knucklehead...I totally missed this the first two times reading, and I realized that my comment on the top of this page is so totally wrong! Okay, so the vampires didn't actually know that the Cullens were there. Alice saw them coming as a result of their baseball game. That's why she says;

So James, Laurent and Victoria didn't actually know about them, or get curious, until they heard the game...If the game had never happened, they wouldn't have ever known about the Cullens' existence.

Regarding these two original questions:

In addition to Alice & Jasper's room being all Alice in decoration, Jasper has his own study.

In the first chapter of MS, Edward mentions that he purposely blocks out his family's thoughts as a courtesy to them. I'm sure that helps with the privacy issue. Plus, since they have a detached garage on their property, I've always wondered if they also have a little cottage nearby for more privacy for the couples.

Here are a few things I've been wondering:

1. Twilight, page 272: when Edward says he had the biggest fight ever with Rosalie, Emmett, and Jasper who "suggested that now was the time" - does he mean they felt Edward should kill Bella to cover his tracks? Even Esme was kind of in favor of this!

2. In NM Alice says something about everyone going to Ithaca/Cornell and that Carlisle is teaching. The implication being that he would teach at the medical school - but Cornell's medial school is in NYC. Am I missing something?

3. Why doesn't Alice get extensions added to her hair?

4. In several places it is mentioned that Jasper is the newest to adopt the vegetarian lifestyle. And we know that he and Alice went to the Cullens at the same time. So did Alice live on her own for several years and adopt a vegetarian lifestyle before joining the Cullens? I know she had a vision that told her about the Cullens and Jasper, but how long between her "birth" and joining the family? James says that Alice was "born" in the 1920's but in Eclipse when Jasper gives his history it sounds like he met Alice in Philadelphia in the 1950s (I need to add up the years again but I think that's right). I'm confused!

Sorry, this might be a silly one but I always wondered if Alice's hair is so crazy b/c of the electric shock therapy. Would shock therapy make your hair stick out in all different directions? Like I said silly, but I still wonder.

I think that the reason it is so short and spiky is that it was shaved off when she was committed. It must have grown back some while she was there, though.

I can answer that one...on page 58 of Twilight after the van almost squishes Bella and she is trying to figure out how Edward saved her he says to her "Trust me"

The question about Alices's hair....Stephanie answered that in one of her Q&As. I think it was on the Lex. She said that when Alice was admitted to the asylum they shaved her head. It was in the process of growing out when she got changed.

Can someone explain this scenario to me? In Eclipse p.109, where Jacob starts talking about the Eagle & the fish. I have read this several times and can't make any sense of it. Who is the eagle, and who is the fish when Jacob says:"And yet, you don't see the fish trying to plant a kiss on the eagle. You never see that." Is Jacob the fish? Is Edward the Eagle? Which one is supposed to be Bella? I'm confused

Bella is the fish, Edward is the eagle.

I'm pretty sure he means that Bella is the Fish and Edward is the Eagle. As in, it's as unnatural for a fish to kiss an eagle as it is for a human to kiss a vampire.
