So I was just wondering, we all know Rose likes attention i.e. marrying Emmette numerous times. So do you think that maybe she was in the public eye for a litttle while? What better place to be admired? Maybe i'm way off base on this, but I was just curious about it.

Do you mean in her Human life, or her vampire life?

I think in her VAmpire life, no... It seems like they try to avoid attention, even her. Isn't that part of why she is so irritated with Edward over the whole Bella thing?

I bet in her Human life she was at some point :)

Doesn't Eclipse say something about her being noticed by all the men from a young age, 12 I think (sorry baking a cake and can't go look).

I think she caught everyone's attention because she was so beautiful. Her parents took advantage of that. They saw it as a gift and used her beauty for social climbing in society. She learned this early on.

You know, her dream wedding/life was interrupted in a brutal and horrible way leading to her becoming a vampire. For a girl that was often the center of attention, her wedding day ought to have been her pinnacle. Perhaps the replay of wedding after wedding where she can't really make it the "talk of the town" is her trying to make-up for what she lost. Eh? Maybe she just keeps trying over and over again to find a wedding that will live up to the pre-conceived expectations she had about what her wedding, her human wedding should have/would have been. But none of these weddings can be what she really wanted- her human bride/groom fantasy.

That's kind of sad.

i fell bad for her - but she seems to me anyway, like the type of person who can never be satisfied with what she has. yes, she loves Emmette, but that's never going to be enough for her. It's actually quite sad... maybe Carlisle should give her an antidepressant or something????

And, is it me, or does anyone else see a major fit coming from Rose while ALice is planning Bella's wedding?

My sentiments exactly. Repetitive marriages for her and Emmett, while not closure for what happened to her, is the closest thing she has to obtaining it for her.

Interesting perspective ladies. I can definitely see the bittersweet nature of these ceremonies (missing what she can't have) but I actually saw Rosalie's repeated weddings in another way.

Rosalie has a wedding, it seems, once every "human lifetime". It's a chance for her to recelebrate with Emmett - after all, she has to pretend she's a high school student every so often, which means her soul mate (or whatever proper term they'd use, since my dearest Edward might argue he's lost his soul) has to act like her boyfriend instead of her husband. If it were me, I'd be frustrated to have to live "life" with this charade and I'd look forward to a wedding to signify the "okay, now we can go back to being husband and wife again - whoopee!" It also gives her a chance to play with the different wedding styles of the era ("Oh my, the last time we had one Emmett, those baby blue tuxes with ruffles were in - let's not do that this time!")

Just a theory

Very interesting...I can see and like both interpretations.... maybe all the weddings is a little of both??

I just got done reading the chapter about Rose's human life in Eclipse. I can't help but feel bad for her with how her life ended. Not just the horrible things that happened, but also having "every little girls dream" so close and not getting it. She does in fact say that from the age of 12 on up that she was always noticed. She was her parents pride and joy as well. I know every time I read that chapter about her, I feel a little bit for her, as I can some what understand why she feels the way she does about Bella. It also seems like she's trying to get over being so vain. To me anyways.

I totally agree with you. I feel so bad for her. The first time I read her human story in Eclipse I cried my eyes out. It made me have a new respect for her, knowing her past.

Ok, so she has weddings, but who do they invite? They probably aren't huge affairs. They aren't very close to many people. Although, Alice did invite a lot of people to the grad party. Maybe they do invite the whole town, just for fun, or Rosalie's ego? Bella's Wedding would definitely have more people there that cared for her, and I can see how that would make Rosalie jealous. Did she really just tell Bella her past so that Bella wouldn't join them? I like to think R cares a little more than that for Edward. But maybe not. I never even thought about R causing wedding problems until you TM's brought it up. Good thinking!

I have wondered this same thing-who in the world do they invite? My guess is they're all pretty big affairs. The Cullens know people are curious about them and people would show up just to go a really nice, big wedding. Plus, I think that part would feed Rosalie's ego - needing to be admired, complimented, etc.

But not loved. In her human life she was loved for her beauty (which is terribly sad all on its own). Not in her vampire life...she is noticed and held at a distance and even disliked for her beauty. That is really sad. No wonder she can't get over her bitterness.

I just had an amusing thought ... will Edward and Bella exchange bites of wedding cake at their wedding reception? How do Rose and Emmett handle the traditional bites of cake, toasts, etc.?

I suppose that Dr. Cullen would have associates at work that would expect to be invited to a family wedding, as well as other family acquaintances (from school, etc.).

I think Rosalie has so many weddings because she really enjoys the opportunity to dress up and stun the world with her exquisite beauty. Emmett indulges her (I'm sure he rolls his eyes a lot) and the family is gracious. Alice probably enjoys the opportunity for extra shopping, too! Do you suppose Alice put on any of Rose's weddings?
