I think most of my questions were answered or not answered because we have to wait for CofG.... *waiting impatiently* I just loved your characters! I was ready to accept that Jace and Clary are brother and sister after CofB, and ready for Clary and Simon to be together. But after CofA, I know that there has to be a way for them to be together! I love Magnus and found myself routing for him and Alec!

Will we see more of Maia in CofG? I really wanted her and Simon to get together! Can you tell I'm a sucker for romance????

But, I was wondering, and maybe someone else can help me with this too, what is the difference between fairies and faeries? I would be happy to be pointed in the right direction, so I can read about it myself.

Why do some runes fade away and others stay permanent?

Why did the fearless rune, Clary made on Jace, burn out? Is that how all runes that are not permanent eventually fade? How long do they last? How do you make them permanent?

I'm not sure there is any official difference. I tend to spell it faeries when I'm talking about faeries, the race of magical creatures, and fairies when I'm talking about fairy tales, the genre.



Runes that are permanent are general enhancement runes - they give you generally better speed, or generally better reaction time, or generally better sight. Runes that are meant to work in a sudden burst of more intense strength — healing, a sudden burst of speed, an interval of being without fear - fade as they're used up. They tend to fade in proportion to how intensely they're being used.

Yay! I was afraid you wouldn't be checking in still to answer questions. I absolutely loved CoB and CoA. I thought I would be done with all the waiting once the TW movie comes out in December and now I have to add CoG to my waiting list.

My question is: When does Jace realize he loves or has feelings for Clary? Since the book is from Clary's POV we get to see her falling for Jace, but when does he fall for her?

You mean how do his emotions progress through City of Bones? You'll actually get to hear that from Jace's point of view in City of Glass.

My question is about Clary's runes. The two runes, at Jace's cell and on the ship, are they the same?

Clary seems to think they both said open.
Since Valentine said otherwise I have been wondering if the first rune was the same or if it said something completely different

I just want to add that I'm a teacher too, and one of my to-do's for next week when I start at my new job is to make sure that the library has copies of your books so I don't have to loan mine out to the students. (I'm possessive about my favorite books!)

good idea!!! i loaned out my copy of city of bones (to our librarian, actually) and she's kept it all summer!!! i'm so suffering from withdrawal! i wanted to read it again this summer. i turned her on to twilight and to mortal instruments. i think maybe i should be the high school librarian.
