I just finished reading the series for the third time and Jacob is really growing on me. I've already decided that no matter how Stephanie wraps things up in the next book, it will be bittersweet.

I think the love that Jacob and Bella have for each other is "real". Although I love Edward too, I think that whomever Edward set his sights on would have no choice but be drawn in as that is what Vampires (as preditors) have the capability of doing. Sometimes I feel that Edward is (as Jake said) "like a drug" to her.

Jacob is definitely a healthier choice for Bella. He lets her be herself and is not stifling or overprotective. I'm not sure I'd want a relationship with someone where my craving for blood would overshadow my craving for love. Look at everything she'd be giving up: Charlie, Renee, friends, children, a real life. I'm a logical person, I suppose, so Jacob is really the only plausable choice. And he loves her for her, NOT b/c he's drawn to her scent.

I know there will be a lot of disapointed fans, but I really hope Stephanie has Bella rethink the whole vampire thing and choose Jake instead. Man, that's hard for me to think about, but it's the only thing that really would make sence.

SouthernBella, believe me I know where you're coming from. In the past, I thought Bella should definitely choose Jacob because he's healthier and their relationship - to me, personally - seems to hold more weight and credibility. But as I revamped NM and Eclipse, discussing their relationship along the way with other TMs, I came to hope that Jacob will find his happiness elsewhere. If Bella chose Jake, Edward will always occupy a pretty large chunk in her heart and I just don't want Jake to be like a consolation prize for anyone, or someone to just "settle on". To me, Jacob IS the jackpot and I don't think he should ever been seen as anything less than that. I really can't see Bella placing Jacob above Edward.

Jacob is definitely the healthier - and saner - choice, but I've come to realize that Bella is completely addicted to Edward and vice versa. And it's not like I don't like Edward and Bella because they're part of what drew me into the series, but frankly, at this point, all I care about is that Jacob finds his happiness or at least some closure. Yes, I look forward to reading BD because SM always writes in a way to suck you into her world, but if (and this is an EXTREMELY unlikley and illogical example) say, Bella fell in love with Embry and left Edward, it wouldn't bother me as long as Jacob finds his happiness *LOL* That was an extreme example, but I wanted to emphasize that I want Jacob to be happy and that I don't think Bella can ever give that to him....

Back to listing the wonderfulness of Jake...
I must say that his being Native American is a GREAT bonus. I've always been fascinated by the various NA cultures and their philosophies! So yes, I'd have to admit that Jacob being NA is another reason why I prefer him. I tend to bias too because hubby is NA as well.

I'm wondering where you get the statistic that 99% of us who are Pro-Jacob are NOT Pro Jacob and Bella? I think Jacob is Bella's genuine soul mate and Edward is an addiction. (Okay, he's a really hot addiction, but still.) I know it's not going to happen, but if there was a way, I would definitely want Bella and Jacob to be together, so they could both have the life she envisioned in Eclipse. It's a much more beautiful one than anything she can have with Edward. But addictions must be fed.

Amen to that. Jacob's so full of love, he doesn't deserve anything less than what he can give back. Bella's just not capable of that. I'm not sure I can accept a Jacob / Bella ending unless she can go to Jacob on her own volition and not because something happens to Edward in the end or she's doing something 'self-sacrificing'. It may be selfish of me to demand this kind of unconditional love for Jacob, but hey, you always want the best for those you love, right?


Heck, yes. When I get my hands on BD, I'm going to have to stop myself from flipping to the end just to find out what happens to Jacob. I'm not sure how it's reached the point where I mostly only care about what happens to the Wolf Pack.


You know, I'm convinced that's why I immediately liked Jacob and the rest of the Pack. I'm from Borneo so I grew up around a lot of indigenous tribes (the generic term is Dayak). Now I live in Singapore where most people here have North Asian features but I don't find them as physically attractive as the Dayaks. I was looking at Solomon and Krys yesterday and was struck by the facial characteristics they had in common with the Dayaks - the only difference being the latter are shorter!


I think that figure is largely in relation to the Pro-Jacob team here on TM. If I'm not wrong, <b>momof5</b> did qualify that fact earlier in this thread. The feel I get in the other forums like the Lex is that they're largely Pro-J/B but that's not the vibe I get around here, which is nice.

We could always have a straw poll to determine the actual breakdown in terms of Pro-Jacob vs Pro-J/B proportions. Now that you mention it, I'd love to determine the demographics of the two sample groups. Don't mind me, I'm just a statistician gone wild.

I voted, but I think we should've put it more: Would you like to have seen Jacob and Bella together at the end of New Moon? Because now we all know that she chooses Edward and Stephenie has said that the Jacob train has left the station or something like that. So we just want Jacob to find love somewhere. I'm definitely in that camp. But if we hadn't read Eclipse, and we didn't know for sure that she chooses Edward and Jacob is out of the picture, how many of us would have chosen Jacob for her, seeing how happy they both were (and how much happier they were about to be) before Alice showed up in Eclipse? If you wanted Jacob with Bella at that point, right before Alice showed up, then to me, you are pro Jacob and Bella. Never mind that Stephenie didn't end up writing the story the way we would've wanted.

But that is kind of the whole issue - that is how the story was written and there is nothing we can do to change it. I was still torn after I read Eclipse. I wondered if Bella had made the right choice even then. But after coming on here and reading alot of different opinions, I came to the decision that Bella made the right choice. When I look back at NM - Bella never would have been completely happy with Jacob. That hole in her chest never would have gone away...she could never have loved Jacob as he deserved to be loved.

I guess I feel that knowing how the story ends influences how we feel. That's why I was saying, how did you feel reading NM? If you remember wishing that Bella and Jacob would be together, then to me, you're pro Jacob and Bella. That's just my interpretation.

I'm still torn about Bella's choice, even though I know it was the righ one in the end. I go back and reread Eclipse from the tent to the end over and over, and every time I can't help but want to yell at Bella "how can you throw your relationship with Jacob away." If that hot kiss didn't seal the deal for her, then it's for the best, and she's a stronger person than I am.

I secretley hope she dreams about it.....that kiss with Jacob. Is that totally weird or what? I just like thinking that some part of her belongs to Jake as well.

I gotcha. I honestly don't remember having an opinion after NM. I read NM & Eclipse back to back (put down one & immediately picked up the other) that originally, I couldn't tell you where one ended and the other began. So I don't even have an opinion to offer on that.

However, I interpret it differently....which I guess is what the forum is for! To share & discuss different ideas and opinions.

My take on it was, if you still want Bella & Jacob together, even after all is said and done at the end of Eclipse? Do you think she made the wrong choice? But you are correct - that is not what I put in the poll. So everyone will have to interpret it for their own preference. And that's ok with me.

Oh yes, you are most definitely a Type 3 Pro-Jacob fan!! I teeter-totter between Type 2 and Type 3, depending on my mood and when I revamp. But every time I revamp Eclipse, I lean more towards Type 2 only because I get frustrated with Bella *LOL*
