Okay... I love this stuff!! Read about my Valentine's Traditions to in that thread. For St. Pat's Day, we of course have green meals all day. Green pancakes, green muffins, green scrambled eggs, and green milk. I make everything green for dinner, green beans, edamome, (no peas
) salad, green mashed potatoes, green jello, etc. Of course the table is all decoretd in green.
I got these ideas from the company Once Upon a Family:
Lucky We Have each Other: Declare St. Patrick's Day your family's day to reflect on how lucky you are to have each other. Prepare a "Lucky Us" book (a little scrapbook, green preferably) and fill it with family pictures. Pass the scrapbook around to each family member so they can write or draw why they are lucky to be in this family. You can also write what a younger dictatesto you. Take out your "Lucky Us" scrapbook each year and write in it and reread past year's messages.
Pretend you are a leprechaun and make someone's day: Make special St. Pat's treats, load them up on a plate, seal with green Saran Wrap, attach a special note for the lads and laddies in your neighborhood, and go knock on their door. Remember, you are a sneaky leprechaun, so don't let anyone see ya!
We are so Lucky(Blessed): Take a jar or box and decorate with a geen ribbon. Have a little bowl of pennies on the table next to the jar. At dinner, each person can drop in a penny and say what they are lucky/blessed to have. Pretty soon, the jar in filled up with pennies and your family will see how truley lucky they are. Then you can donate the money to an organization that helps people who aren't so lucky. Last year my four year son LOVED this idea. He came up with so many wonderful things he felt blessed to have. It was a very special thing for my husband and I to see. We were so proud of him!
