I'm living in Jakarta. Is there anyone here from Indonesia, Malaysia or Singapore? or anywhere in Southeast Asia?

Hi vnfan,
Not in SEA, I'm in Australia, but you have not gone unnoticed! Hope we can find you some more TMs on your archipelego! In any case, we are all in the Greater Oceania, so feel free to pop over to Australia and chat with us over there! AND, I am working on a Big Melbourne Breaking Dawn Release Party at the Dymocks in Melbourne. SO....if you happen to be upwardly mobile, as they say, and could see yourself coming to Melbourne for the occasion, we would love to have you!

I am in Okinawa Japan! I feel a little lonely sometimes, since none of my friends are as obsessed with Twilight as I seem to be, but if you ever want to chat, I'm here! Welcome!

Hello! Great to have someone from that part of the world also. I was originally from there but has moved into the UK for a good long years. I am pretty amazed that the Twilight phenomenon hasn't caught on that quick in there as normally anything that comes stateside gets pretty big in there too. I'm sure, by the time the movie comes out in the Phils, that will all change.

Haven't been back there for a while and i do miss the sunshine a lot especially during this time of the year as we live in a part of the UK that is Fork-like weather wise. Anyhow- welcome!

*waves* Good to see people checking in!

Twilight was just translated into Indonesian, so I expect that there will be lots more Twilight fans here. My students say, though, that instead of coming off sounding like a gentleman, Edward sounds rather obnoxious and arrogant. The tone is not quite right, apparently. Gosh, I wish I'd been able to sit with the translator and tell her about the glory that is Edward Cullen!

As it gets translated into more languages, it would be good to start a thread about how it 'feels' in other languages.

Hi Meriam. Thanks for the warm welcome! You mean to say that you were originally from Manila, or elsewhere in Southeast Asia? If you were originally from the Philippines, then that's pretty cool. :D I'm pretty sure that there are a lot of Twilight readers here in Manila, if the booksales at the major bookstores are any indication (Stores are enjoying very high sales of the Twilight series books. Even I had to wait for the bookstore to replenish their "Eclipse" stock before I was able to obtain a copy. Also there already is a long reservation list for the August release of "Breaking Dawn"). I think that a lot of these Filipino Twilight readers haven't stumbled upon the TwilightMoms site just yet, that's why there are only a handful (currently 3 Filipinos) of us here. And I DO hope they will release the movie here. You never really know about these things. . . . So you're in UK now? Wow, you then have a big chance of seeing Rob Pattinson live, ha ha! Am not a big Rob fan but I think that he's the perfect choice for Edward. :D I like the movie photos and footage I've so far seen, Kristen and Rob seem to have a really good on-screen chemistry.

Yes, its summer time here and the weather is super sunny and warm. I just came from a brief holiday in HoChiMinh in Vietnam, and the weather there is pretty much the same as in the Philippines -- hot and humid! Kinda makes me wish for a Forks-like weather. . . . :D

Thanks again, and hope to hear from you soon!

Hi, vnfan. Oh, that's just too bad if the Indonesian translation is not able to capture the essence of Edward Cullen. :( Hopefully not too many other stuff will get "lost in translation" in the Indonesian version. Were you able to read it already, by the way? If you have, do tell us what you think of it. :D I doubt it if a Filipino translation of Twilight will ever see the light of day. Here in the Philippines, what we normally get are the English language editions of these best-selling fictions, put out by either US or UK publishing houses, and these novels never get translated into Filipino (our language). Maybe it has something to do with the fact that English is considered by many Filipinos as their 'second language', being a predominantly bi-lingual (Filipino and English) people. Nevertheless, our national language, Filipino, is actually a very romantic language, so I would think that a Filipino translation of Twilight might just end up being as romantic as the original version, even mushier, at that. Ha Ha! Hope you can tell us more about the Indonesian version of Twilight in your future posts. See you! :D

hiya, yeah i was born in cagayan de oro in fact but left the Phils 20 years ago. I think Robert Pattinson is definitely a great choice for Edward and couldn't ask for a better Bella than Kirsten.

I'll try and send you a pm later as i'm actually doing a 'sneakie peekie' while at work just now. i think i've actually booked customers onto a tour to Austria instead of Tuscany and France! i'm soooo gonna lost my job and its Edward's fault!!

ha ha! a lot of the stuff happening on my end now is edward's fault as well. :D cagayan de oro is actually one of the few places that i haven't yet gone to in the philippines. i've been wanting to visit because of all the attractions there i've been reading about -- hiking, spelunking, river rafting, etc. i'm a real nature-tripper and i dig these kinds of stuff. okay, looking forward to your pm later. meanwhile try not to lose your job for the moment. he he. :D

Hi there! It's good to know a member here is also from the Philippines.. I'm from Manila too.. Maybe we can have a Breaking Dawn release get together here as well... I've been encouraging my friends to read Twilight so that I'll have someone to chat about it here... Well, it's already gaining popularity and I'm so glad to have come across the books and most especially knowing Edward and Bella's love story :)

Hi Kat! At least there are four of us now here from Manila. :D I do hope having a Breaking Dawn release get-together here is truly possible! I'm quite excited about that idea, actually. Hopefully between now and the release date more people from Manila will be added to this little group of ours, so there will be more Filipino Twilighters to celebrate with us come August. Just feel free to PM me or to chat with me here anytime. See you!
