I don't think we will ever get to see the entire book.

I think Stephenie will put it aside for now and release some other books, but publish it eventually.

I voted for the 3rd option, but really only because that's what I wish would happen...

I voted 3rd.. I am not sure if i believe it ..or just hope for it..I don't think she would do that to us..not all of us read it, so why punish all of us. Don't you think she would want to have it published?

I'm REALLY hoping she does publish it, but I'm worried she won't! In one of her interviews somewhere after Breaking Dawn, someone asked her if she would continue the stories and she mentioned something like she was going to finish out the stories for herself, she knew how everything was going to turn out, but it was not something she was intending to publish. I'm worried that she will finish Midnight Sun and her publisher will give her a beautifully bound copy for her bookshelf. But it may never be available to the general public. I guess it depends on how hurt she is. They are her characters so she can choose how much she wants to share about them. I'm worried she might no longer want to share since someone tried to take them away from her. I just wish the leak had never happened and everything could go back to the way it was! Crying or Very sad

I just posted this in another forum....

Just for the record - SM never said she wouldn't finish the book. She put it on hold. Yes, she said "indefinitely", but not forever. To me, and apparently I'm in the minority, that means give her some time and space, then she will revisit the project. I have faith that Edward will not let his side of things go untold. I feel very strongly that she will EVENTUALLY finish Midnight Sun...but not for several years. Let her have the break she deserves and then she can finish it when her head is in the right place.

I absolutely believe she will finish it! Praying And I guess I'm not in the minority in this thread! YIPPEE! HappyDance

I totally agree with you here - I think with enough time and space she will change her mind. I want to write her a letter via her publisher, but have been afraid that she's probably getting bombarded by them. I am going to wait a little bit - when the "rush" is over and then write my letter.

Also, I wanted to add, that I was looking through my copy of The Twilight Entertainment Weekly (from July) the other day and I noticed something interesting she said when asked about publishing Midnight Sun "I haven't sold Midnight Sun yet," she says. "it's for me still. I'll probably sell it when I'm done, for one reason: I want to have it bound up on my shelf with the others. or" she laughs, "maybe I'll just publish it on my website"

So I was wondering if maybe at some point, since she's already given us half of it on her web site, maybe she won't bother with publishers and editing and just put it on her web site. Any thoughts on that? I don't care how I get it as long as I get it!

Hmm, thats interesting Red, thanks for that. I have only read the first two chapters and couldn't make myself finish the rest. Partially because there is nothing like a book physically in your hands! It thrills me! And I don't want to lose out on that when I read Midnight Sun. So I will be glad to have all of Midnight Sun regardless of if it is printed or posted, but I would be sad not to have it on my shelf. Sad

Right now I'm in denial about the whole situation.. happily escaping back to Eclipse and re-reading Twilight.. can't even think about MS without wanting to cry Crying or Very sad .. Edward is my favorite character and while I am forcing myself not to read the MS draft.. I stay away from it.. because I think it would be even more painful if I do read it and the book is never finished.. However I think Stephenie loves those characters more than any of us.. so I believe she'll go back to writing Edward's version sooner than we think.. maybe she already is!!
if not.. after the huge success of Twilight the movie.. hopefully she will be inspired and happy enough to reconsider..

I never took her explanation as if she was NEVER going to finish it, she just said she was putting it on hold indefinately ( like the PP said.) I think she just needed to step away after getting hurt so bad about what happened. I think she also put what she had written already on her site as a way to give her readers her blessing in a way to go ahead and read it and not to feel bad; I know I knew before she posted that the book was leaked but I WOULD NOT read it. After reading her explanation, I felt like she was saying it was ok, you know?
I really really hope she does finish it because from what I read that she wrote already, it will be amazing!
