There were also other timeline mess ups, like when Bella was doing Charlies dinner before going to see Jacob after his being injured by the newborns, the next paragraph has her there with Jacob, the next paragraph she's finishing dinner and hasn't left yet. Then a reference to wishing Edward could be with her when she saw Jacob, holding her hand like he did before - they didn't visit Jacob together before. There were some publishing muck ups to be sure, typos and timelines no doubt mised in editing when perhaps something was taken ot or changed, they didn't back up and read it through for it to flow properly. |
I thought Edward and Bella saw Jacob together while he was still unconcious? That didn't happen? I'm confused. I thought she saw him once when he was unconcious, with Edward. Then went home with Alice, then to her house to see Charlite, then went back by herself when Jacob was awake. _________________ Nobody does "happily ever after" like Stephenie, nobody!!!!

I totally agree, the typos were annoying. I understand that they were trying to hurry and get the book out, but some were so blaring, it almost seemed as though they didn't care about the continuity, but wanted to get the books packaged up and out there for consumption ASAP. ($$$) I think they may have underestimated their clientèle.

Actually, she did visit Jacob before with Edward. Right after he was injured, but he was out of it. (Eclipse 580-581, 589) I think that's what you are referring to about the dinner thing too. She is not actually with Jacob, but is remembering back to when she did visit Jacob before. It is a little choppy, easy to get mixed up. _________________ ...more than a little obsessed by Edward himself. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

GAH! I'm in idiot, I've read the books 8 times, and there it was (Bella had visited Jacob quickly when unconcious) choppped up in one little bit in one sentence pcused on Alice insisting she keep up her charade.
I can't believe I missed it! THAT should have been expounded on a bit, at least TWO sentences. LOL. Arghh, no doubt a need to chop the book down a bit. Guess I have to go back and read them a few more times!
One thing that never should have been taken out was Emmett's story, on Steph's site as an outtake - that was superb. And small! A page and a bit, it should have been included! I really loved that part.

Yes. I agree. I wish editors would leave more in! I wouldn't mind a bit if it was 1000 pages. Maybe it would last a little longer. ahhhh who am kidding? _________________ ...more than a little obsessed by Edward himself. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

ABSOLUTELY! We know we all want the Directors Cut of the movie when it comes out on DVD (cough - BluRay by then) but why not release an 'UNEDITED TWILIGHT BOOK SERIES' - I don't care if it's 5000 pages long! We had the paperbacks, I upgraded to hard covers, then upgraded to some signed editions, then of course ordered the speical Edition Eclipse.... I have no problem allotting a bookcase just for them! I want to read EVERY morsel, Stephenie is too brilliant to have so much as one word cut. _________________ NM pg 547: he put his hands on either side of my face as he stared into my eyes. | That's a good catch. I've always been a little confused in Eclipse. So much happens so fast really that I can't wrap my head around the time frame. I think that error subconsciously had me even more confused.

That's a great catch re: the date screw up. I've never noticed that, but like other fans, I've noticed quite a few other typos and errors. In my opinion, that's the only downfall of these books - the publishers and editors didn't put enough time into making sure that they were the best they could be. It's fairly disappointing. _________________ Join us for a DC/MD/NoVa meet up!

I realize this thread is about Eclipse, but I was just revamping New Moon and came across a timeline issue that has bugged me since the first time I read it.
It's in the section where Alice comes back to Forks because she thinks Bella is dead and Alice spends the night (day 1); Bella overhears Charlie and Alice talking the next morning about how bad Bella was when Edward left and then Alice spends the night again (day 2); Bella spends the next morning cleaning while Charlie heads off to Harry's funderal (day 3).
But then on p. 403 (on day 3) Alice mentions the hole in her vision of Bella jumping off the cliff as an "egregious lapse in foresight yesterday" even though that had been two days ago (on day 1). Then the book has the same error on p. 406 (on day 3 still) when Bella thinks to herself "I'd picked the bloodsucker over him last night" even though that was also two days ago (on day 1).
It's like when SM originally wrote this section, she didn't have that day 2 included, which is the day that Alice updates Bella on the Cullens and what she's discovered of her human life/family. _________________ Join us for a DC/MD/NoVa meet up!
