Hi Cassandra, I hope you are still looking through this thread. I loved COB and COA. They were fantastic! I love all the humor in COB. My favorite part in COB is on page 345 when Jace tells Dorothea his one true love is himself and he turns himself down occasionally just to keep it interesting. I laughed so hard! I had to read it to everyone in the room. This book would be great as a movie. I have read your comments about the possibilities of it becoming a movie. I think it is a great idea as long as they stay close to the book. My question for you would be is there anybody that us fans could contact to encourage them to do a movie? The reason I ask this is because I just finished another YA book and was looking on the author's website and read that the book was being considered for a movie. I know that doesn't guarantee anything but it just irked me because I thought COB was way better than this book.
You are a great writer and I look forward to COG and whatever else you write! I hope to see you on a book tour for COG (Chicago area).
Thank you for such a great book series! _________________

Thanks for letting me know you liked the books! As far as I know there's no one to contact about doing a movie without contacting every studio and production company in Hollywood, which seems like a lot of work. I should also say — and here I am not in any way making a judgement about this other writer's book, or its status in terms of being made into a film, as I have no idea what's on his/her website or what she/he said specifically — but "being considered for a movie" doesn't mean anything. City of Bones is also being considered for a movie, and so are hundreds of other books — pretty much anyone who has a film agent representing their book can say their book is being considered for a movie. Studios consider a huge number of books for movies. Even having your book optioned doesn't mean it will ever be a movie. Of the books that get optioned, probably 1% ever become actual films.
As for Chicago, I was there on tour for City of Bones last year — maybe they'll send me back for Glass next year.

Hey Cassandra, I've got a question for you that I think hasn't been asked yet. It's kind of a hypothetical question so maybe you haven't thought it out, since it would kind of wreck the romantic tension of the story, but what if...
Simon wasn't in Clary's bed in City of Bones after she and Jace had their "moment" in the green house. What would have happened? How would that have changed the plot?

I don't tend to think those kinds of things out, because — as they say — writing is about choices, so you tend to think about what does happen in the narrative rather than the countless things that don't happen. (That's the job of fanfiction, I feel.) All I can do is think, well, what would the characters have done in that situation, given what I know of them. If they did go into Clary's bedroom, Clary would just have wondered where Simon was, if he wasn't there. If they'd gone to Jace's room, she would still have eventually remembered Simon's existence. I assume she and Jace would have fooled around, so to speak, but it's not as if Clary would have slept with him. I'm not sure it would have wrecked the romantic tension as they still would eventually have found out they were brother and sister and that would have been that. Possibly they would both have been more miserable later, though perhaps not. I'd have to write it out to know.
