Well, I haven't seen this book recomended so,

"Lost Souls" by Poppy Z. Brite, it's a book about the kind of vampires that come out in the sun but drink blood and alcohol alike and listen to London After Midnight and the gothic scene from the 90's. They are beautiful, dangerous and without remorse, but the one vampire who live as human has a son and the drama begins.

I highly recomend it but I think it's not so popular

I loved Lost Souls too. It's hard to find though I think.

I would say The Last Vampire series and The Season of Passage by Christopher Pike. I know they're YA, but they're some of the first vamp books I read and I still love them.

Also, I Am Legend. The movie really just took the idea of the book but didn't stay true to it. I loved the book and liked it much better than the movie (even though the movie was good too).

I just finished another one tonight - Vamps by Nancy A. Collins. I have to say it is pretty horrid. It is YA and has all of the YA vamp chiches that I cannot stand - the rich, perfect, catty, label obsessed, vain vampires teens vs. some outsider. It kind of reminded me of Blue Bloods which also had a similar premise.

I just finished reading 'The Vampire Diaries' by LJ Smith, which I actually found out about on these forums and thought they sounded good.

http://twilightmomsforums.freeforums.org/lj-smith-the-vampire-diaries-t8688.html

I found myself thinking, when it described the one guy as having green eyes, "Edward had green eyes when he was human." LOL.

It was great! I went in Chapters (for those who don't know, it's a huge bookstore chain in Canada) and they had "Bella's Reading List," and I found that book there(the sequel in the "teen fiction" section), as well as "I heart you, you haunt me" by Lisa Schroeder. They're short reads, less than 300 pages.

I ordered from amazon.com, "the vampire series" by rosemary laurey, which sounded really good. There's no plot summary on amazon, but I found a great summary in the first review.

Scrappycook mentioned Society of S a few posts ago. It was a terrific book. Very different in the vampire genre but very enjoyable. There is a sequel that came out about 2 months ago. I bought it but it is about 20 books into my TBR pile! The sequel is called The Year Of Disapearances by Susan Hubbard.

I just finished the last Southern Vampire Sookie Stackhouse book. I have been on a reading rampage the last few days and have read one each night (they are very quick reads). I love the series, I first got into them probably 4-5 years ago...then it took a year for each new book to come out and I lost interest. I rediscovered them this week and I am so glad that I did, they are super fun to read. I think there are 7 or 8 of them out, they are written by Charlaine Harris. HBO has the series coming out this fall.

I just finished two books by Kate Cary called Bloodline and Bloodline Reckoning. They were really good. Kind of a different twist on Dracula.
I would def. recommend them.

not sure if anyone has mentioned these but the Anita Blake series by Laurel K. Hamilton are pretty decent (well the first 4 or so).

and i think i saw where a couple people mentioned The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova...and i second the recommendation. very interesting, very different...

and in the YA catagory (sort of) The Last Vampire Series by Christopher Pike wasn't too bad.

I did City of Bones and City of Ashes. I love them.
I'm reading The Historian now and next will be the Nora Roberts Trilogy.
I am a fan of hers but haven't read those yet.

I read Night World No. 1: Secret Vampire; Daughters of Darkness this week and give it two thumbs up! It is three books in one book, but they read like three short stories. They are fun and clean (PG) and there are two sequels coming out this year. I have also just started The Historian.

I am on the third book from J R Ward. And I must say I like the books. They do get a little steamy in parts, but boy those vampires are HOT!!! :drooling: I am almost as obsessed with them as I am with Edward.
