You know, sometimes you can be so down or disgusted with life that you just want to run & disappear. Many times I have felt like I just wanted to get into my car and drive really fast and never look back. I think maybe Bella had, had enough.

Have any of you ever felt this way?

I totally agree with you. I think if I had been in Bella's shoes I would have done the exact same things. I know when I've felt very hurt or angry or heartbroken I just wanted to go out and do something stupid and reckless (not really anymore since I have a family and a baby to think about but when I was younger..) It was her way of coping with the horrible way she was feeling and it might not have been the best way but I definitly understand it. I think, other then her wanting to hear his voice, she also wanted to do those things to get back at him for breaking his promise that she would forget about him, she promised that she would take care of herself and since he broke his promise she wanted to break hers too.

And when you are that HURT and that ANGRY...you want to get even...even if it means hurting yourself to hurt someone else.

Although I'm glad she jumped off the cliff so we could both hear Edward's voice, I think this shows how impulsive and reckless she is. I mean, she's only 17-18 and Edward has 100 years of life experiences.

I think this example is one of many that shows Bella should wait until she matures a little more before making the decision (the very permanant decision) to become a vampire. I know this is a little off topic, but it's been bugging me.

I agree and I don't. Because hey, I'm 28, married for eternity, already have 2 kids, and I still make stupid choices sometimes. Especially when I'm emotionally distraught and lonely.[/b]

Bella is one of my favorite characters. I think Stephenie did a great job with her. And I think the gal they got to play the part is going to be perfect.

THe cliff jumping makes perfect sense. I would have done it in her shoes (but I probably would have waited for Jacob as I'm a little bit more chicken than Bella). She was numb for so long and acting reckless and doing dangerous things not only brought Edward's voice to her but made her feel not so numb and dead. And I think her reckless things weren't all that reckless considering some things teenagers do.
