Neutral I read it, it was hard to get through for me. I could not get interested in the characters. It was visual, I enjoyed that. Maybe there was not enough romance ? I read and read and read. I was forcing myself to finish to book, waiting for the climax of the story, I think it fizzled. It was so one dimensional compared the the last few books in the club. Did anyone else have this feeling on the book ?

I wouldn't have finished it if I had picked it on my own, and I do think I might have picked it out judging by the book jacket blurb. Sad But that is what makes book clubs great, you power through books you wouldn't have otherwise, and I would recommend it for people to at least try if they like the 'alternate future' kinds of fantasy, which I think this was to a point as in, we have dragons!

Robin McKinley has written several books that are some of my favorites. This one was different than her other books but I still enjoyed it. I like the way she wrote from Jake's perspective. It was a much slower book but I'm glad it was picked because I might not have otherwise finished it. I enjoyed the story and loved the dragons she created.
