I think this is probably how it happened! I mean common! It's Ian!
 Hubba hubba!
And he is SO sweet!

I figure they all tried... and he said no.

Ian doesn't seem like "the ladies man" type. Not that he couldn't have been if he didn't want to be... just that he didn't want to be. He seems more the type to find the special person worth getting involved with rather than what is convenient.

Lets face it... an alien taking over someone body, coming and finding you (but wasn't looking for you and you just happened to be there)... and then convincing you they aren't the enemy:shock:... that is anything but convenient!

YAY! I love this thread because Ian's character was my favorite in The Host! I love how Stephanie let the readers see him transform from one of the savages to a genuine hero! She is just a genius! And he's been added to my list of men I wish were real.

Interesting. This would add to Sharon's hatred: jealous of his attention to Wanda. She is with Doc, but I don't get any kind of romantic feeling about that relationship. It almost feel like a "we're the last two people alive so we'll get together" scenario. If Ian turned her down, she would resent both Wanda and Mel's body.

I too love Ian in this book.

I said this on the Lex too..

Ian is a diamond in the rough. He was abbrassive and rude to begin with, but once you peeled back the course outer layer lay a beautiful radiant person. He is so kind and gentle. His eyes...man..to melt for (as described).

He is wonderfully written.

I just finished the book and I LOVED Ian. I loved the tranformation and that he loved Wanda so unconditionally. He thought she was beautiful in her true form. I was so happy that he wasn't left alone. His complete understanding of her and the reactions she had toward Jared and his patient to wait for the one he loved without pushing her. Talk about a great love story.

I LOVE IAN!!!

I just read The Host and Ian is just so amazing. I totally agree with so many of you...I was totally lusting for Jared but so in love with Ian.
I think Jared has that same hot-headed, raw, physical heat that I fee Jacob embodies in Twilight. But Ian has that self-sacrificing, pure, true, and deep quality that make's Edward so irresistable.

Me too. I honestly thought that instead of another body, that Ian would volunteer to house Wanda. She said although she preferred female hosts, she could adapt to male. I figured that Ian would want Wanda where he could keep her warm and safe and with him for all time....or at least until a better solution would be found. When he threw his face into her lap and bawled, I felt his pain as if he and the situation was real. I'm tearing up thinking about it now. Jared and Melanie give hope for endless love. Ian gives hope for humanity's ability to overcome all b/c of their ability to love.

ETA: I don't think Sharon and Maggie's hatred of Wanda had anything to do with Ian turning Sharon down. Melanie was caught trying to find Sharon...caught and infiltrated. I assumed it was mostly guilt that drove them to hate what "killed" Melanie in her attempt to save them.

Also, why did Ian kick Kyle in the face when he overheard Wanda's plans? What did Kyle have to do with any of it. It was just a random and senseless act of violence.

:read: I just finished reading The Host and I am so glad that I'm not the only one that loved Ian. I found myself crying towards the end when I thought Ian & Wanda weren't going to be together. I had NO idea how the book would end because I knew Wanda didn't want to be a "parasite" I think it ended beautifully!!
I think Queenie's pick for Ian is HOT!!!!! :<3:

Henry Cavill for Ian. Very interesting, since originally SM wanted him for Edward. He is tastey, and since Ian is magically delicious, it fits.

While reading it, I was really torn about how I felt about Ian. What made me really fall in love with him was after they separated Mel and Wanda. His refusal to leave Wanda after the removal made me cry my eyes out. I forget how it was written, but when he said that he held her in his hand and said she was beautiful... Uh! Talk about tugging on the heart-strings. Absolutely all about Ian.

YES! Thank you so much for that.

That's exactly the line that made me lose all composure and start bawling.
