i dont know if this has been discussed before. if it has could someone point me in the right direction? i was wondering how long alice waited in the diner in philadelphia before jasper showed up. alice says in eclipse on pg 301

"you've kept me waiting a long time."

does anyone know how long she was waiting for him?

A day? A few days? I don't think we know an exact time. In fact, I think part of that line simply refers to the fact that Alice saw Jasper as soon as she woke up as a vampire in 1918 (?) and that it's taken her 20-30 years to pinpoint him down and find him.

I am not sure if we were told or not but I found this on the Lex under character bios

When you find your love, you use the clique' "Where have you been? I've been looking for you my whole life." For Alice this is true, she's been looking for Jasper her whole known life.

I went and looked around as well when I saw this thread, but I couldn't find anything concrete. It must have been more than a few years though.

so do you think she waited in philly from the time she had her vision of jasper until he showed up? i think that was like 18 years or something. not sure though.

I think she sat in that diner for 18 years. Waiting. Nah, I think it was just an expression of her frustration at waiting AT ALL. Remember when Edward and Bella go to tell Alice to plan the wedding and she is waiting outside because sh is so excited? I would guess that Alice was just biding her time until the moment she knew Jasper would show up. Of coures, why she didn't seek him out earlier, I have no idea.

This is one thing i've kind of wondered too. Alice's back story is one i've always wondered about because she's the one we know the least about. Jasper we generally know how it went, and Edward, Esme, Rose and Emmett have pertty much always been together, but we never really know how Alice figured out how to be a vampire and all of that along with how long she waited for Jasper. I hope we get that at some point (maybe the guide coming out in Dec.????)

I don't know how long she waited for him in the diner, BUT she'd been looking for him for 28 years. Her first memory of him was in 1920 and they didn't find each other until 1948.
