I did not read the book for any of the reasons that the poll suggests. I read it because my young daughter of almost thirteen had brought a copy home after a bookstore outing with a friend. I was concerned that vampires would frighten her. She chose the book because the cover caught her eye and the story sounded good.
When I asked my students (fifteen year olds) if they had heard of Twilight and was it really scary, a student said it was her favorite book and that it wasn't really scary. That's when I felt that I just had another reason to read TW--as a responsible parent and teacher. At first I just skimmed. But at some point I fell under its spell. I felt as if I were being hypnotized, dazzled by Bella's description of Edward. I went back to reread and have never stopped.
Oh happy events that led to that. _________________

I'm a bigger fan of vamp stories now that I've read Twilight. But I also read it for the love story too. _________________

Vampires. I almost didn't read it because my son told me it was a love story. I *hate* love stories. I didn't want to hurt my sons feelings though, so I read it.
I'm glad I did!
But I still hate love stories. _________________

| I was both. For me though at first it was the vampire thing. I get bored with love stories by themselves... they need some umph- this story has that and thats why I like it... there are so many layers that while the love story is the main part of it... there is more to it.

i have a love for vampires-the anne rice series is one of my very favorites-so when my daughter started talking about this great vampire series, i was intrigued. (though it took my a long time to get around to reading any of..) but! then the love story really kept me hanging on.
so i guess you could say i came for the vampires and stayed for the looove. _________________

For me it was the vampire thing that caught my eye when I read about the book. I've always read a whole lot of fantasy books, but I'd never ever read any vampire story. Seeing that it was also about love though, was what made me decide to try it out. I mean, it had to be at least a little appealing with the combination of supernatural beings AND love?
I had no idea what I was getting myself into...

| Although I've always found vampire stories to be interesting, the love story is what drew me in initially.

| I initially started reading b/c of being told it was a love story between a girl and a vampire. I didn't go for it because it was necessarily about a vampire. Although, I was a big Buffy and Angel fan and when I got into it, it really reminded me of that relationship. Of course they couldn't be together like Edward and Bella could which is the part I absolutely love! Nothing can keep them apart.

| It would be the love story for me. I didn't want to read Twilight at first because of the topic of vampires. I saw a movie when I was little about vampires and it terrified me! But after reading Twilight I'm curious about other Vampire books.

I actually had never heard of the series until some friends of mine were just raving about it. I'm not a book reader, but when I heard what it was about I decided to give it a try.
I've always been about the vampires, but not the gory, gory ones. I've always watched the show Angel and still do. Actually I wish DB that plays Angel was younger because he would make an excellent Edward!
I was interested at first because of the vampire side, but now after reading them waayyy tooo many times, it really is about both.

I was attracted to it because of the vampire love story.
I loved Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel (I guess you could say Angel was my first "vampire love" followed by Spike but nothing compares to Edward. ) but was never an Anne Rice fan. I heard these books were more like Buffy than Anne Rice so I thought I'd give them a try. OME! I fell in love! _________________

I love a good love story (but am sick of romance novels). I don't like Vampires. But a love story between a vampire and a mortal? intriguing and 'take your breathe away cause it's "forbidden" 'romance! and Twilight met my expectations (to quote Catherine Hardwicke) "deliciuously" (ok, I can't spell)
I wish I could forget Twilight so I could read it again the first time!

I read this because it was about vampires. I have had a love affair with the undead since I was a child, so mysterious and dangerous. Then Anne Rice added sexy to that list. Though I think that if Edward were a human in this story I would have loved it just the same. It's the human aspect in Edward that I love, not the inhuman aspect of him. I have always devoured any vampire stories I could find, and this one is the most wonderful. Thanks SM. _________________

I in all honestly had heard nothing about twilight and I was at the store looking for something to read on my transition from Ohio Civilian live to California Air Force life.
I saw the cover and thought it looked neat and read the jacket and I wasnt really sure. It wasnt even in the teen section so I didnt even know until I started reading it. Then I couldnt find anything else that even drew my attention so I grabbed that book. I felt unsatisfied in my purchase but I needed something to read.
WOW did I luck out. I love it! I normally dont judge a book by the cover but this cover is what made me make my decision to grab it.
