I dont think Jasper made the decision to attack Bella at the party. Her blood was 'spilled' so to speak, and we all know what his past life was before Alice and the Cullens and it was just an innate reaction to Bella's blood. I think it is even said that Esme holds her nose while they are getting Jasper out of the house, so that she wouldnt smell the blood herself. Remember, their way of life is the complete opposite of what a vampire should be. Doesnt Alice say something along the lines that it is like a frenzy when blood is around them? Like sharks when they smell blood? All of them *with the exception of Carlisle* are still to a point, vulnerable to the blood. Jasper is just the most vulnerable because of his past.

I have really enjoyed this thread, 1)because Jasper is my favorite character and 2) because there are some really good insights here. Lots to think about. Thank you ladies for sharing.
