Oh - I wish I didn't know this spoiler for COG. Now when I read the book next March I will be looking for this tragic part.

When I heard the question, my 1st inclination was to name Max. I think he will be trying to help someone - Jace, Alec or Isabelle. I agree with some of you that it would be too predictable if it was Alec.

I do want to take a minute to defend Maryse. It is a mark of Clare's wonderful writing that she was able to portray such strong emotions for Maryse's opening scene. However, I think that many of you are forgetting that she acting that way to protect Jace from Imogene. She is tender and loving and fierce for/about her adopted son. I like her!! Remember that she was one of the 1st female shadowhunter women. She is tough when need be. I would NOT like to see her die.

I don't want any of the children to die either, that would be too heart wrenching . I'm guessing that it might be the dad since he's hardly even mentioned.

I don't want any of them to die saving Jace either because he will feel even more guilty than what he's already feeling. Valentine made him feel extremely guilty in CoA by making remarks that Jace is at fault for everything.

My first thought was Max- trying to prove himself. Second was Maryse, trying to protect Jace or Clary(for Jace).

I wouldn't be very suprised if it is Alec. I actually thought that he had died during that big battle on Valentine's boat especially since what he did was so heroic! Is it terrible of me to stay that I think his point has been made (i.e. outed, loves Jace, dating Magnus) that I'm not really sure where it would go. Guess I will have to wait and see when COG comes out!!

Oh no! I hope Isabella doesn't die. Alec either. Maybe Maryse will. Max didn't have such a big part in the last two books, so it would seem kind of random in a way if he did die.

Wait, by die are we talking like Simon/vampire/some other way dying but not dead die, or really die die? Hmm. In the still living but dead case...Isabella. No, wait, Alec. Yes, definitely Alec. ummm....ok, maybe Alec.

I'm thinking maybe Alec? I could totally see him sacrificing himself for Jace.

I hope it's not Max, that would so sad and unnecessary I think.

I'm seeing Alec giving his life for either Jace or Clary. Though I desire none of the Lightwoods to die, after some thought, I think it could be an important character, not someone like the parents. However, if Maryse "bit the dust" I would not cry any tears for her demise since she was sooooooooo very cruel to Jace. (boo-hiss! )

I think the Dad. Maybe Valentine kills him off because he is a father figure to Jace. And Valentine wants to be the only father figure he has around??

I'm thinking either Maryse or the dad. Maryse could do something risky to save Jace's life since she still feels she needs to atone for treating him so shabbily in CoA. Or the dad since he's such a fringe character anyway. Maybe I'm shying away from Alec or Isabelle since that would hurt a lot more.

How about a Lightwood we have yet to meet Or someone dies but doesn't die die.

That said, it could be any of them but my top guess is Maryse or Alec. And I like Maryse a bit..well I don't hate her so IMO it would be sad.

Even someone new, it would be sad. Unless they were bad...

Oye...as much as I'm hoping it's Robert ~ I agree that it will probably be Maryse and she'll die for Jace - because any mother would die for her child.

I don't have a clue. I think it would be too easy for it to be the mom. I hope it's not the kids, it would be very very sad. That sounds horrible cause really it's sad whenever anyone dies, either way it will be bad for Jace.....that makes me sad Let's also hope it's not Jace as he considers himself a lightwood.
