Hey there! My name's Brittany, and I live in Southern TN with my hubby, Steven, and our 'babies' - two tabby cats (Thomas Q. Quarterpounder III and Gabrielle), and our 2 year old Dorkie (half dachshund, half yorkie) named Tabitha.
I currently work as an after school and break care provider for the local Christian Academy, and my husband works in a warehouse. I was pursuing a degree in Interactive Media and Web design at the Art Institute, but after a lot of prayer and consideration, my husband and I are both hoping to attend Asbury College in the fall.
I'm 21 - a bit younger than the average here, it seems. It's always been my goal in life to be a wife and a SAHM, and Steven and I married at 20...I guess you can say I'm "that girl", and proud of it.
I have been intrigued with the Twilight books since I first saw Twilight on the Best Seller's shelf at BN, but didn't pick it up because it was YA. I have nothing against YA, it's just that my husband and I can both easily pass for 15. While I know I'll really, really appreciate that 10 years from now, it's a pain at the moment.
For instance, the Youth at my church are not allowed to sit in the balcony when Youth Group isn't meeting, because they tend to be loud and disrespectful. They try to do it anyway, but someone usually comes up and reminds them that Chad, the youth minister, wants them to sit at the front. Hubby and I like to sit in the balcony on Wed. nights, but there have been several times when someone who doesn't know us has tried to gently remind us that the Youth are to sit downstairs!
It isn't just at church - there is a distinct lack of respect from store employees and customer service lines toward anyone who looks and sounds like a teenager, and we often get suspicious or dirty looks from waiters, public park officials, and employees at movie theaters.
The long and short of it is, because I look and sound 15 (because of my voice), I try to distance myself from things marketed to teens - it just makes life a little easier.
Still, I glanced wistfully at Twilight every time I passed it, wondering what it was about.
I finally got a copy when hubby and I went camping for his birthday. I married an Emmett, for the most part, but I'm not a very outdoorsy person. He knows that my idea of a camping trip is to lie on the air mattress in the tent with lots of bug spray, a S'more, and a good book. So before we left, he went to Walmart and got me a copy of Twilight (he'd seen me shoot longing gazes its way before).
I started on it that night. At first, he tried to work on his sketches while I read, but I kept making noises (hmms, and Oh!s, and giggles). He'd ask me what was going on, and I'd read him a little. After about the tenth time, he finally broke down and asked me if I would start over from the beginning. We finished the book by the next morning, and rushed out to get the other two. We've
both been hooked ever since!
I'm on Team Edward, all the way, but my favorite characters are Esme and Rose. Steven thinks the wolves are awesome, and will defend Jacob to his dying day, no matter how many times I say "Jake has a lot of growing up to do before he's ready for a committed relationship".
And that's me in a (very lengthy) nutshell! Sorry to ramble so

. I look forward to getting to know you all
