I agree, Jacob is more real and honest. Edward seems too perfect. (Don't hate me, I do like Edward and think he and Bella will have their happy ending) Jacob just has that very human element to him.

As I have read the books again, I'm feeling more strongly towards Edward. Almost like I'm starting to trust him again (Because I LOVED him in twilight). But the way Jacob is Bella's sun. That just gets me.

I have to say when I read Twilight the first time I didn't like Jacob at all. Then in New Moon through the whole Jacob section I was wishing it to be over and wanting Edward back. Then Edward returns and I was missing Jacob. And then in Eclipse I totally loved Jacob and wanted Edward to disappear.

I've reread Twilight and New Moon. This time around I love Jacob even more, of course. But I'm starting to warm up to Edward again. We'll see how I feel after Eclipse again.

Either way, I do love Jacob.

Jacob's easy to warm up to if you allow yourself to  Edward dazzled me in Twilight, but it was Jacob who set my heart ablaze

First read through, really liked Jacob. Didn't think he was for Bella but liked him nonetheless. It didn't bother me that he was cocky and infantile towards Bella at times - that for me was kind of endearing because it showed me how much really cared about her. However, 2nd read through, I fell in love with Jacob. I felt a bit guilty that I was questioning Edward for Bella! How could I? But how can you resist warm, wonderful, Jacob? Now I'm on my 3rd read and even though my heart aches for Jacob I know that Edward is it, will always be it, and has always been it for Bella. Alas, wouldn't it be nice to have such a choice between two devastatingly hunky gentlemen?

Yes and no. I say "Yes" out of impulse  But when you think about it, can you imagine the sleepless nights you have to suffer trying to decide between two wonderful guys?! I mean, I'd go for Jacob, but we're talking about "in general" right? Choosing between two great guys? Oy I would have dark rings under my eyes....

Yes, yes, I know it would be a difficult choice *sigh* but that I guess is one of the things that draws me to the Twilight series - I just can't get enough of these guys! You do bring up a good point, kct, which makes me wonder: how many of us have ever had to choose between two great guys?

*sheepishly raises hand* Okay maybe it wasn't a sleepless choice for me. But I did like them both! I was in the middle of dating one (he took off for a year as a foreign exchange student - I shall call him Jake  ) and the other courted me in the absence of my then-boyfriend (whom I shall call Eddie  )

Jake was 3 years younger than me and was boyish in every way. He was in the dance club in college and I actually had to fight another girl for him (well, not physical fight *LOL*) Jake was charming, cute, and passionate. Eddie, on the other hand, was six years older than me. He was worldly, he knew his way around society, and he was very street smart. His company had sent him to Japan, where I was living at the time, and was a regional manager. I hesitated at first, but when he started courting me, I had already had a big fight with Jake. And here was Eddie - he understood women and he was irresistible. So I chose to be with Eddie, despite Jake's pleas to remain with him.

I later regretted this of course. When I think back now, it was Jake who loved me. Eddie had ideals that no human female could possibly fulfill and he dumped me for a stupid reason.

Although that particular choice seemed easy for me at the time, it should have been hard.

The first time SM described his sunny smile and disposition, I was caught in the net that is Jacob Black...

I just can't resist a good smile, be it a crooked one or a bright, shiny one!

IIRC, I fell hard for Jacob during my second read through of New Moon. I skipped the edward parts and dove right into the middle section of the book. I think my jacob addiction was cemented by the epilogue of Eclipse. I'm looking forward to Breaking Dawn, but for me, it doesn't matter what happens as long as Jake ends up happy.

I loved Jacob for being Bella's band-aid when she needed it. The way he was obviously taken with her that day at LaPush and was just so sweet. How he was such a good friend and someone she looked forward to seeing while Edward was gone. I also like the whole Native American vibe from him. I think Bella likes his heritage a lot too. It definitely adds to his attractiveness, the color of his skin, his hair... :D

I suppose the big scene that I liked Jacob in was where Bella figured out that he was a werewolf. He thought she was mad because he was a werewolf, when she was really mad because she thought he might be a killer. I thought that was a sweet scene, and it was one of the few that I didn't rush through in New Moon due to my desire to have Edward show up again.

I don't think I ever really fell for Jacob. I was always a big Edward supporter, but I do like him as a character.

Oh yes!! To me, as long as Jacob ends up happy (like zooming way past Cloud 9 kind of happy), that's all that matters now for me. He's taken a beating, and if he doesn't end up happy - or heaven forbid - dead, that will just ruin so many things for me, and I'll be a mess for a week or so. :(

Did you fall right away, or was it more like how Bella did?
One day you're just finding yourself reading all the good Jacob stuff?

My first read thru, it took me untill the tent scene in Eclipse to go oh! I have really come to like this guy.
The second read thru- When he first shows up in New moon - OH, I really like this guy.
and so on and so on, to now I love him -almost- as much as Edward.

I agree, I fell for him during the tent scene too! I liked him in new moon but the kiss in Eclipse sealed the deal for me. Don't get me wrong, I love Edward and think he and Bella should be together but I want Jacob to find happiness. Bella has always kept him dangling on the side and he needs a person who will treat him right...I would gladly volunteer for the job!

KCT, we all learn a lot when we look back! I was thinking about any times where I had to choose between two but it seems that there was always one that stood out. It seems Bella has had a more difficult choice, but maybe easy since she didn't really have a choice - it was always Edward.

I'm not sure if it was that easy for Bella though - if it had been, she would have completely cut him off a long time ago. SM wrote the story to make it difficult for Bella so she could see what she was giving up by choosing Edward. And despite all that she could lose, she still chose Edward in the end - so that makes her choice have more weight. I really do think Bella did struggle internally. She knew she couldn't live without Jacob, but she also knew how much Jacob meant to her, making it all the more tough to finally put her foot down. That last scene in Eclipse just made me bawl though.... I really understaood what Bella meant when she said (in an earlier chapter) "Jacob's pain cut me deeper than my own." I really hurt for Jake.

I came to appreciate Jacob the 3rd time reading through the books. I think he is a great guy but not the perfect guy for Bella.

I also love the culture he has ties too. It is so much like my own husband, which makes me like him more. IYKWIM (My man is Gitxsan of this NW coast.) I really felt like I was reading my husbands heritage or family while reading some things. Especially when Jacob gave her a carving of the wolf.
