Lollylew...it is what should make us human...I just wished it happened the way I believe it should happen, more often...that's all...

I'm with you on that one Joanne Maria

I love this last "conversation" between Wanda and Jared...

That gives me goosebumps all over...:

I really liked this part as well.

I'm not a cryer, so some of the book was corny to me, but
I have many favorite parts that I need to re-read!!

The conversation between Ian and Wanda when he runs with her back to their room. That made me pretty choked up.

His love and acceptance amazes me. *sigh*

I'll have to get back to you about the other favorites I have. I can't thik of ay right now. Lol!

This wasn't described in detail, only briefly mentioned, but I loved that Jared held Doc at gun point to make sure that Wanda would live.

Something that stood out to me was the whole relationship with the Seeker. I REALLY disliked the seeker, and I wanted her to disappear. But not Wanda. She stayed true to her SELF. Even when she had a chance to get rid of the seeker.

pg 504
Wanda: "I don't know how to save you,"
Seeker: "Why would you want to? You're one of them!"
Wanda: "But still me," "I don't want...I don't want.."
How to finish that sentence? I didn't want... the Seeker to die? No. That wasn't true.
I didn't want... to hate the Seeker? To hate her so much that I wanted her to die. To have her die while I hated her. Almost as if she died because of my hate.

Like Jared says at another point (can't find it) to Maggie that being human used to mean having compassion.

I've gone through the book several times, hitting all my favorite parts, and most of them are the one you all have covered. I am as drawn into this book as I was with TS.

Too many favorite parts to name, but a couple parts that I took particularly hard...personally...

When Wes died. I have a very good friend named Wes, 20 year old kid that is like a son to me and when that name popped up in a SM book it really tickled me. Then when he was shot, I was horrified because I had pictured him as "my" Wes.

The other part was that the souls had a simple cure for cancer. My daughter is a leukemia survivor and to think that all the suffering we went through could have easily been "fixed." If only, if only....

I really reflected on the paragraph about the human race. I don't have the book in front of me but one line stuck out I think it was "and yet you will step over someone starving on your front step". I'll look it up later. But I highlighted that whole section

I finished the book and then lent it to a coworker. I however wish I could be rereading it right now.

However, whenever I think about the book the mourning scene is what pops in to my head. I'm not sure it's my favorite. (I love how SM writes kisses in general, and the emotions with them) But it is probably the scene that moved me the most.

If I recall correctly (I need to reread it) I think that Ian stops eating when he realizes that she isn't eating not because she's ill, etc but because she's mourning. And he joins her in her fast.

I agree I really liked that part the most. It showed how much Ian understood and accepted Wanderer and knew that he couldn't say anything to make her feel better - after seeing her own kind that way - but he could sit in silence for three days with her as she grieved. It's kind of that, 'I can't save you but I can join you' mentality.

My favorite parts are pretty much anything with Ian in them. I felt more for him than Jared.

And when Doc was going to put Wanderer out of Mel´s body and he told her she is the nobelst, purest creature he had ever met.... I was crying without an end

Two of my favorites as well... The whole scene of Jared and Wanda during that moment was soooo good. I love those moments that make your heart clench up! SM has quite a tally going for me in that department...

I also cried like a baby at the Doc/Wanderer part... beautiful words.

I love every part of this book. The searching for the humans, getting caught, staying at the storage where Jared was protecting her, Ian falling in love with Wanda no matter what she was and doing everything for her, etc. This book brought so much emotion out of me. I cried when Ian was begging her to stay and telling her that he loves her. I loved everything abou Ian. I love Wanda's conversation with Mel. I just love this book period. I wish it never ended.
