Oh, I don't like that at all ! Now I'm completely worried...I adore Emmett ! Stephenie mentioned a few key characters that wouldn't die ( if I'm remembering correctly, or perhaps I just imagined reading that to make myself feel better lol) but Emmett wasn't one of them. Now everything that amuses me about him seems so foreshadowing....

I don't know stephenie doesn't like to kill her "friends". she was unnsure about a host sequel because she thought some people would have to die and she wasn't sure that she wanted to do that. Her Twilight characters I can imagine are even closer to her-she has spent so much time with them over the last few years.

I don't think I could bear it (no pun intended) if Emmett died in BD. He's my fave character other than Edward. I also was super excited to see in an earlier post that Emmett was from Gatlinburg, TN. I have been there numerous times and it's not too far from where my family is from in North Carolina. You pretty much just cross the mountains. It's interesting to know that Emmett and I share some background even if he is a fictional character.

I would cry my eyes out - litterally!! That just wouldn't be cool!

OK, trying to keep it together here....Any of the Cullens dying would go against SMs assertion that she loves a happy ending. Any of them dying would definitely not be happy...**going to my happy place now....Ohm...**

When Edward is trying to decide what to do about Bella's blood's effect on him, he turns to his brothers. Emmett says he felt the blood sing twice, and apparently he killed them both. Now that he sees Edward and Bella's relationship, do you think he questions what would have happened if he had restrained himself?

I don't think so. Emmett is all about his angel Rosalie.
I can't for a minute think he'd be emotionally attracted to anyone else- even if their blood did sing to him.

I agree. I think Emmett only saw those people as a tasty meal. It never even says if they were male or female. As far as romantic love though - I think Rosalie is it for him. It seems that when vampires find their mate, it's for good. Every vampire that loses theirs wants revenge. I would assume it's almost as strong as imprint, but I could be wrong.

Edward says that imprinting is nearly as strong as the way he feels for Bella... is that because Bella and Edward have a unique love? Or is all vampire true love that strong? Because if it is... then Emmett's love would be stronger than imprinting... right?

Oh no...Emmett can't die!!!! I love him (as well as the other Cullen men) almost as much as Edward. Surely, SM wouldn't kill off any of the Cullens!!!!! It would break my heart.

The wait til August was awful....now it's going to be excruciating. I think I'm going to have to do what I swore I wouldn't do....look ahead. I won't read the ending but I'm gonna have to check names to make sure all the Cullens are still with us!

I got the impression that it was that way for all vampires.

I noticed that too. I was just figuring that A) Emmett's story was not really all that relatable or necessary to the story line or B) that it would be told in BD.

I read somewhere (I believe it was in Emmett and the Bear) that he thought Rosalie was an angel when she came to save him from the bear and he thought that the burning sensation when he was being changed were the fires of Hell because he was no saint in his human life. I would have loved to have read some of the mischief he may have gotten in to as a human, because I think his retelling of it would have been hilarious! It's too bad we didn't get more Emmett throughout the four books.
