I've also been listening to the local '80's station today and heard a few more that made me think of The Host:

"In your eyes" - Peter Gabriel

"Glory of Love" - Peter Cetera (yes VERY cheesy but the lyrics are great!)

"Higher Love" - Steve Wynwood

"In your eyes" - Peter Gabriel - I understand why, but it still makes me think on Lloyd Dobler.

I was listening to these on my ipod and they reminded me
of The Host.

"I'll follow you into the dark" - Death Cab for Cutie

"Look After You" - The Fray

I always have country songs in my head whenever I read the book. The only song that isn't country (I've heard a version though that is country) is "Lost" by Michael Buble.

I was just listening to Billy Ray Cyrus' song: Ready, Set, Don't Go and I think it really fits the book near the end when Wanderer is saying her goodbyes to everyone. http://youtube.com/watch?v=AqhCCRWSSqo

And "Lost" by Michael Buble is just Jamie's theme song in my mind. http://youtube.com/watch?v=wvNSI4-PV8s

Those are the only two songs I can think of for right now.

I while reading was listening to my Nine inch nails cd Year Zero and found that most of the songs went with the Host (At 1st until after chapter 10ish)
Then was happy to see what stephenie posted on her playlist about nine inch nails (I have always loved there music although it is not very church friendly ) Very Happy
I love the New soul song that is so Wanderers song!!!! i agree.

I just listened to U2 - "Sometimes you can't make it on your own" I don't know what CD it's on but you can listen and watch on you tube. I think it is a good song in a lot of ways for Wanda and Melanie. Neither one can make it on their own. Listen I promise you'll see some good conections.

I like this one from MUSE:

MUSE LYRICS

"Falling Away With You"

I can't remember when it was good
moments of happiness elude
maybe I just misunderstood

all of the love we left behind
watching the flash backs intertwine
memories I will never find

so I'll love whatever you become
and forget the reckless things we've done
I think our lives have just begun
I think our lives have just begun

and I'll feel my world crumbling
I'll feel my life crumbling
I'll feel my soul crumbling away
and falling away
falling away with you

staying awake to chase a dream
tasting the air you're breathing in
I know I won't forget a thing

promise to hold you close and pray
watching the fantasies decay
nothing will ever stay the same

all of the love we threw away
all of the hopes we cherished fade
making the same mistakes again
making the same mistakes again

I can feel my world crumbling
I can feel my life crumbling
I can feel my soul crumbling away
and falling away
falling away with you

all of the love we've left behind
watching the flash backs intertwine
memories I will never find
memories I will never find

I as in my parents van while taking a trip to Wisconsin. My dad was playing Aretha Franklin on the way there. I didn't charge my ipod so it ran out of power and I was forced to listen to what he was playing in the van. It wasn't bad because some of the songs he played match The Host while I was reading it. It was to cool. It really moved me. One was Ain't No Way and there was another but I can't recall right now. I'll post it later if it comes to me.

Great songs guys! I too thought of The Host when I heard New Soul the other day! It is such a cute song! I thought of NIN Year Zero a lot when I reading the book too. I also thought of this Muse song Invincible for Melanie and Wanda:

Astro Zombies by My Chemical Romance makes me think of The Host. The song doesnt fit the love story but the alien part of it.

This is my Host song:

Fugitive by the Indigo Girls

Here's the link & lyrics:

I'm harboring a fugitive a defector of a kind she lives in my soul drinks of my wine and i'd give my last breath to keep us alive are they coming for us with cameras or guns we don't know which but we gotta run you say this is not what i bargained for so hide yourself for me all for me we swore to ourselves we'd go to the end of the world but i got caught up in whirl and the twirl of it all a day in the sun dancing alone baby i'm so sorry now now it's coming to you the lessons i've learned won't do you any good you've got to get burned the curse and the blessing they're one in the same baby it's all such a treacherous gain hide yourself from me i said hide yourself from me all for me i stood without clothes danced in the sand i was aching with freedom kissing the damned i said remember this as how it should be baby i said it's all in our hands got to learn to respect what we don't understand we are fortunate ones fortunate ones i swear so hide yourself for me i will hide myself for you all for you i stood
without clothes danced in the sand i was aching with freedom kissing the damned i said remember this as how it should be
