Genetic experiementing. That Valentine would do anything to have control. And to have the most powerful Shadowhunters by his side would have been the icing on his plan. But he didn't plan on the fact that babies turn into TEENAGERS!!!!! And they don't usually listen and do what they are told. FUBAR!!!

Basing this off the theory that WARNING SPOILER- don't read if your haven't read CofA Jace is the Inquisitors grandchild- Valentine found the purest blood shadow hunters and partnered them up- creating almost pure Angel blooded children, giving them powers unlike any other.

So then do you think they are the children of Stephen and his second wife? I can see that perhaps Jace is but how would Clary have ended up in Jocelyn's body?

One theory I have is that they are children who have been "prophiesed" about and that Valentine (if that is who the faerie Queen was referring to) made sure that they were (maybe getting into too much "Willow" territory) the "chosen ones". Isn't there something like that is almost all mythical fantasy stories like these?

Clary would be Valentines child, and Jace would be Stephens. Valentine had his army, but he was also match making couples to produce powerful offspring.

I don't think Valentine did anything to Clary. It's my understanding that he didn't really even know she existed...right? I mean on page 167 of CofA, the Queen doesn't actually say that Clary was part of the experiment. She only tells Jace to ask his father about his blood.

So I think that Jace is really Michael Wayland's son. I think that Valentine actually did kill his own son as it mentions in CofB, but took Michael Wayland's as his own. Maybe that's who's blood it is.

oooooooooooooooh. Maybe Valentine is like Simon. He really is a vampire, but he's also able to be out in the sunlight like Simon by taking in shadowhunter blood like Simon had done. So maybe Jace is like 1/4 vampire so he has even that extra strength from them. Although that doesn't sound like much of an experiment...especially since Valentine doesn't like downlworlders that much.

ok, this is what I think....Clary's mom had hidden that cup that is one of the mortal instruments. so we know that it was present in their family. what if valentine used it on the children when they were babies somehow and it made them into super shadowhunters? i think it's possible that he tried it with someone else's child first (jace) before he would experiment on his own child.


oooooooh! or what is the 3rd mortal instrument? do we know anything about it? maybe that has something to do with it????

I agree with most of this. I don't think Val did anything directly to Clary, her special powers came from her mom so any influence on her special powers may have been made by Val experimenting on Jocelyn. He seemed honestly surprised at first when he realized who Clary was. I think Jace is possibly the son of Stephen and his 2nd wife who supposedly committed suicide. I say supposedly, because it just hit me that with the way Val is he could very easily have taken her, done his little experiments on her and the fetus, then killed her and made it look like a suicide. Of course this would also work into my dreams that Clary and Jace are not brother/sister and still have a chance to ride off into the moonlight on the flying motorcycle. lol

I was thinking when the queen asked him about his blood it is because he is not a Morganstern(? forgot how to spell), I think he is someone elses child. This is where my thoughts were going and maybe it's nuts, but what if Valentine and Joanathan Christopher really did die in the fire and someone else glamoured to look like Valentine? Take over where he left off. They say Jace doesn't look anything like his mom or Clary, and she only looks like her mom. That is all possible, but maybe Jace is like his dad because it really is his dad and not Valentine. Crazy I know, but there has to be some way Jace and Clary can be together.So there is my thoughts and I am sticking to them. They have to end up together gosh darn it

Or this was my other thought. When Stephen left his first wife because Valentine made him, the second wife was of high importance and that is what the queen was talking about. Maybe it was JC who died in the fire but Valentine killed Stephan to get the baby.......oh I don't know, they just have to end up together.

I agree, nikicole. I don't really care how, I just want them to end up together. I'd have a hard time living in a world where two people are doomed to live unhappily ever after.
