I remember having to read "Jane Eyre" in high school.... i wanted to poke my eyes out so that i didnt have to read it anymore =P

Some great fantasy books are:
Tithe/ Ironside by Holly Black
Uglies/ Pretties/ Specials/ Extras by Scott Westerfield
Fight Club by Chuck Palahuinick (sp?)
The "Hawksong" series by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes

And I highly reccomend "The Looking Glass Wars" by Frank Beddor. (soon to be trilogy) He completely re-imagines the world of Alice In Wonderland. Its so amazing!! Annnnnnnd the best part..... hes a movie producer/screen writer so hes producing and writing his own script for his own books.... how AMAZING is that movie going to be?!?!

Vampire books:
In The Forests Of The Night by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes
Demon In My View by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes
Shattered Mirror by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes
Midnight Predator by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes
Blue Bloods/ Masquerade/ Revalations(soon) by Melissa De LaCruz

Trilogies
A Great and Terrible Beauty (trilogy) by Libba Bray
City of Ashes (soon to be trilogy) by Cassandra Clare
I havent seen this trilogy on here yet but its sooooo great I reccomend:
The Named/ The Dark/ The Key by Marianne Curley

And my favorites...... THE MERCY THOMPSON SERIES by Patricia Briggs. Very well written fantasy books. Vamps, weres, and The Fey all mixed into very exciting mature smart well-written books. Theres 3 so far, but Briggs is contracted to write at least 7 Mercy books

Classics
Where The Wild Things Are.
The Foot Book.
Where The Sidewalk Ends.
The Catcher In The Rye.
Tuck Everlasting.

Well I've always been a reader, so I have lots to compare Twilight to. But of course the Twilight books are now my favorite. But before the twilight books my favorite was
Monkeywrench by PJ Tracey. Edge of your seat suspence/murder mystery. I was never obessed with it, but before this it was the best book I've ever read.
Keeping in mind that I normally read a few books every month.

If any of you are looking for good vampire/werewolf fantasy books, here is a list of some authors i've read:

Lara Adrian - really good vampire series
Keri Arthur - vampires, werewolves, and other sup. natural beings
Charlaine Harris- great books
P.C. Cast - House of night series-vampires. She also has a great Goddess series as well.
Melissa De La Cruz - vampires
Christina Dodd - werewolf
Michael Romkey - vampire

This is just a small list. I'm sure I left out a couple. I'm always looking for more. Please let me know if you have someother suggestions.

Sure thing!!! I think we all need lots of books to keep us occupied while we wait for BD. I'm actually about to start Christine Feehan's Dark Series and after that Lynn Viehl's Darkyn series. Hopefully that will keep me busy for a week or so (hehe). I read entirely too fast.

Oh good night! I own all of hers.....the Dark Series, the Ghostwalkers, and the Drake Sisters. I really enjoy them, though the vampires get a bit repetitive....there are at least 20 of them now. Lol! They can also get *ahem* detailed    There is a thread on here somewhere for them. ;)

A few fascinating novels:
- Doomsday Book by Connie Willis
- The Eight: A Novel by Katherine Neville
- Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins

If you have the energy to get sucked into another series (besides Twilight or Outlander), have days to dedicate to not putting the book(s) down and don't have issues with scenes that skirt a bit s&m try the first trilogy that makes up Kushiel's Legacy by Jacqueline Carey (Kushiel's Dart / Kushiel's Chosen / Kushiel's Avatar).

In the Time of the Butterflies by Julia Alvarez.
I just finished a great book. I read it for a book club with the boring synopsis: sisters fight a revolution. But that part is just alluded to. This book is about love and sacrifice. It is about 4 sisters: their sisterly love for one another, their love for their family, for their faith, their passionate love for their husbands and their children--all of which makes their sacrifice so much more. The story is told from all 4 sisters' point of view and follows them over 20 years. It was beautiful.

I read a wonderful book this week called "A Curse Dark as Gold" by Elizabeth Bunce. It is a retelling of Rumpelstiltskin and is excellent - lots of magic and superstitions and just well written!

these are not werewolf books book 1 he turns into a wolf B2 a falcon b3 panther b4 cougar
B3 is out!!!!!!! Into the Shadow
B4 (Into the Flame) is out 8/5. if you can wait til Aug I would recommend it. Book 3 is wonderful but drops you right into B4 and you are left wanting and wanting and needing and waiting for book 4.
Aug is a busy month for books lol
