I have been a BIG Blue October fan for a while now- I have seen them 13 times in the last 2 years! I think it is interesting that Justin will be performing some songs that inspired some of Eclipse and Breaking Dawn.

It is amazing to me how much of BO music relates to the books--

This part of Justin’s interview was interesting to me--
Asked to pick the one character who he finds most appealing, the man who inspired Stephenie Meyer(Justin) said one of her creations might bring things full circle. “James,” he revealed. “I could see myself doing something [about him]. It’s opening a lot of different chambers in my head.”
BO has a song called James- and basically it is about a guy named James that stole the woman that Justin was in love with and had planned to marry. The entire song is about how much he hates James and what he wished he could do to him-- torture him in a cave. Now when I hear this song, I think that must be exactly how Edward felt when he found Bella broken and the things he wanted to do to James. Even the name was right in the song.

Balance Beam has been a favorite of mine for a long time. Its a list of rules that guys should follow when they meet a girl--
"I haven't been quite the same
So sure the story of my life would never change"
I just see it as being when Edward decided to stop avoiding Bella and break the rules by getting to know her- how amazed by her he was.

Another one is Calling You. I just see it so perfectly when Bella goes with Jasper and Alice to hide out from James and Victoria. I can see Edward feeling like that when he calls to check on her.
"Well I will keep calling you to see
If you're sleeping are you dreaming
If you're dreaming are you dreaming of me?
I can't believe you actually picked me"
I was going to just copy the best parts that relate, but it is the whole song so here is the link if you are interested.
http://www.geocities.com/blueoctoberlyrics/callingyou.html

Amnesia is another- "I wish I could go to sleep and wake up with amnesia
And try to forget the things that I've done
I wish I knew how to keep the promises I made you" Again I see this so clearly as how Edward feels.

There are many more-- I listen to Foiled and there are any parts that I think of something about these books.
If you don’t know Blue October you should pick up some of their stuff- and by the way I know that Foiled is the newest, but try some of the older stuff too. It is amazing. I would recommend Argue with a Tree- it is a live double album that covers much of History for Sale and Consent to Treatment.

I love Blue October too. Justin's lyrics are so poetical. And you are right, so many of the songs really work well with the books. Another one, that you didn't mention and isn't in Stephenie's playlists, that I think will be a perfect fit in Breaking Dawn is the song "Congratulations". I could totally see this from Jacob's perspective.

is that seat taken?
congratulations
would you like to take a walk with me?
my mind it kinda goes fast
i'll try to slow it down for you
i think i'd love to take a drive
i want to give you something
i’ve been wanting to give to you for years...
my heart

(my heart... my pain won't cover up... you left me)
my heart
(my heart cant take this cover up... you left me)

i came to see the light in my best friend
you seem as happy as you've ever been
my chance of being open was broken and now you're Mrs. Him

my words they don’t come out right
but i’ll try to say i’m happy for you
i think i’m gonna take that drive
i wanted to... to give you something
i’ve been wanting to give to you for years...
my heart

(my heart... my pain won't cover up... you left me)
My heart
(my heart cant take this cover up... you left me)

i cant change this
i can never take it back
but now, i can't change your mind
(you left me)

and i can't take this
i can never take this back but now
i can't change your mind
can't change your mind
(you left me)
can't change your mind
(you left me)
(you left me)
(you left me)
just make it go away
make it go away.....please

Maybe there will be some new song from Blue Octobr in the movie? Someting, when you here it in future, you always remember Twilight movie because of it? Something like there was Celine Dions My heart will go on in Titanic or Evancences Bring me to life in Daredevil?

Yes that would be cool. Justin actually said in his MTV interview, that he is interested in writing and performing a song for the movie. So there is a very good chance for that to happen! Very Happy

I hope so anyway. And I definitely hope MUSE will create a song for the movie. I would freak (in a good way) if that were to happen! Wink

I'm so glad there is a thread for this! I was thinking about something the other day & didnt' know where to post it.

Hate Me is one of Steph's alternate songs for New Moon. Now - the subject of this song really doesn't go along w/ the NM theme.... He's upset because his mother died before he could apologize to her for his addictions and how the impacted their lives for the worse.

However, I think that if you take some of the lines out of context, it totally fits. Such as:

I have to block out thoughts of you so I don’t lose my head
They crawl in like a cockroach leaving babies in my bed
Dropping little reels of tape to remind me that I’m alone

There's a burning in my pride, a nervous bleeding in my brain
An ounce of peace is all I want for you.

You made me compliment myself when it was way too hard to take
So I’ll drive so **** far away that I never cross your mind
And do whatever it takes in your heart to leave me behind

And with a sad heart I say bye to you and wave
Kicking shadows on the street for every mistake that I had made

And of course - the chorus:

Hate me today
Hate me tomorrow
Hate me for all the things I didn't do for you

Hate me in ways
Yeah ways hard to swallow
Hate me so you can finally see what’s good for you

But when I listen to the song, I have a hard time relating it to Twilight becuase I know what the song is "really" about. KWIM?

I had never heard of BO before reading Twilight and being led to TMs' website. There are two songs which I find so fitting for the TW books and have on constant repeat:
The Sound of Pulling Heaven Down
and
Calling You
These are two of the most beautiful songs. Love them.
Hoping to get tickets to see them and SM in NY at the Nokia.

Although the Video was somewhat about a young man who did drugs and lost his mother without ever getting to say what he needed to, the song "Hate Me" is more about just wanting anyone that you love, but that you know you are not treating right or know that they would be better without you.... It was actually Justin's mother in the video so his mother is still alive and well!
But I agree that the song is perfect for the way that Edward feels when he leaves Bella... He wants her to hate him so that she can move on and make what he thinks will be a better life for herself without him!

I didn't think it was actually Justin the song was talking about. Glad his mom is still alive!

However, a lot of the words in the song relate to an addiction. And not in the way that Bella is addicted to Edward.

I like the song & I think parts of it fit...just not all of it. Of course, I think it's the same w/ Paper Cut by Linkin Park. The title is perfect, but the words don't have too much to do w/ the book. Of course, w/ LP - it's hard to understand most of their words! Laughing Laughing Again - this is all just my opinion!!

I really love "Sound of Pulling Heaven Down" by BO. It is so perfect for "Twilight." I find myself humming the melody all the time. It's just beautiful.

...
So rest assured I have the key to every opening
To every wishing well that's deep enough to dream (dream)
I want to show you just how fascinating kissing is
When earth collides with all the space between (yeah)

These are my favorite lines from that song. I love listening to this song. I'm listening to it as I'm typing this post. Very Happy It makes me happy!

OK - I have to totally eat my words here!! BUT - after going to the BD signing and hearing SM's explanation...then HEARING Justin sing this song - I get what she meant!!! So yes, absolutely, this song is perfect for NM right after EDward leaves Bella.

I completely agree that Blue October is perfect for the Twilight Saga. There are so many songs that fit in so many ways. People just need to buy Foiled and hear it for themselves.

Calling You also reminds me of MS (page 114) "Yes. She'd said yes to me." And then after that he kept going to her room at night "calling her", so to speak, to see if she was dreaming of him.

I love Blue October, and have for some time, and when I first heard that Justin was going to do the concert series with Stephenie, my first thought was, "thats PERFECT!"

There are just so many BO songs that totally align with parts of the books. My favorite is Sound of Pulling Heaven Down, but ever since I saw the concert series in Seattle, I keep having My Never run thru my head at random times. I can't wait for the new CD in March!
