Amnesia gives not only Naomi a second chance but also others in her life. How does Naomi’s amnesia affects some of the other characters lives in the book?

I think it greatly affects everyone...well almost everyone. A lot of the students at school seemed almost annoyed by her and I am not sure it changed them. I think it mainly effected Naomi, James, Will, and Naomi's parents. Of course it effected Ace, but I am pretty sure he got over it pretty quickly and didn't probably change from it! LOL!

I think more importantly, it offered Naomi the opportunity to give other people in her life a second chance with a relationship with her which then changed everyone.

I loved how her amnesia had alomst a domino affect on people in her life! Everyone tries to tell her why she hated this person, or that she loved this or that. It was nice to see her make up her own mind about her realtionships even before she got her memory back! I agree with Javenstar that everyone that was close to her was affected in some way or another...except Ace (one track mind)! Some of the affects weren't postitive but most of them were.

I agree. Naomi seemed to affect others positively after she got amnesia. Like she got a fresh start with family and friends.

Naomi's amnesia really acted as a catalyst.

The most significant aspect of Naomi's amnesia for me was that it gave her the opportunity to make up with her mom. (It really gave her a chance to be a better person with all her family and friends. She also made new friends and tried new things.)

When she didn't "know" that she was supposed to be mad at her mom, all she wanted was her. When she was told that she was mad at her, she still wanted her mom but didn't feel like she could go to her. She learned things about her dad that helped her see that may be the divorce wasn't all her mom's fault. Who know how long she would have been mad or if she would have ever made up with her mom?

The amnesia really helped her to be herself because she could not remember the mask she was wearing in order to fit in with Ace's crowd.

Unfortunately, it did interrupt the possible relationship that later blossomed between herself and Will.

My feeling is that Naomi's amnesia mostly had a positive effect on her. It allowed her to possibly become who she really wanted to be (and was inside). Sometimes I felt like she did not give others around her the benefit of the doubt. Like they may be suffering in some ways too (Ace, Will). In the end she was the one who lost her memory though, it was her. The others just had to deal with the "new" Naomi that emerged.
