Hah! One of my boys used to claim he only liked pork. So, for months we called chicken, beef, lamb, AND SPAM..... pork! He ate it all.
But, I think he caught on when we tried to extend it to fish....

My parents used to do that with me! I use to love playing with the lambs on my uncle's farm but whenever he would "dispatch" one we would get lamb chops and my mom would have to tell me it was chicken so I would eat it. I'm still a little disturbed by it though.

Wow! A REAL "Silence of the Lambs" experience. You should set up an appointment with Dr. Lecter to discuss it :D . In the meantime, go for some Spam--it's not so disturbing.

I hate to admit it, but I have never tried Spam! It must be good by all of the previous responses. I have to try it one of these days. You've given me lots of ideas for using it.

Okay... so I always have little recipes popping up in my google ads or whatever they are in my gmail... and they are ALWAYS about SPAM.

Here is the one that was there today.

SAVORY SPAM CRESCENTS

Serving Size : 16
Categories : Sandwiches

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
-------- ------------ --------------------------------
10 sl Bacon, cut in small pieces
1/4 c Finely chopped onion
1 cn SPAM Luncheon Meat, cubed
- 12 oz

1 Egg, beaten
3 tb Grated Parmesan cheese
2 tb Chopped fresh parsley
2 tb Dijon-style mustard
1/8 tsp Pepper
2 pk Refrigerated crescent roll
-dough (8 oz)

Heat oven to 375'F. In skillet, cook bacon and onion until bacon is
crisp; drain. Stir in remaining ingredients except crescent roll
dough. Separate each package of crescent dough into 8 triangles.
Spread top half of each triangle with SPAM mixture; roll up. Place on
baking sheets. Bake 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

SPAM is big on Okinawa, Japan too, they serve it in their restaurants, remnant from WWII too. My son loves it, I guess his Okinawa friends served it to him at thier houses too. My mom served it when I was growing up to in south Texas. I don't normally buy it, but the few times I have, my son's have eaten it. They eat anything!!

My mom use to always serve spam when I was young. This is the only way I have ever had it...sliced thick and fried.
I can't bring myself to eat it now as a grown up, don't know why. Well I have one theory but it is goofy  When I was away at college my cat was hit by a car and died, very sad I know  then on a visit home, shortly after the sad phone call about my cat, I was helping my mom make dinner and I was put in charge of slicing the spam and when I opened it, it reminded me of cat food and haven't been able to eat it since, so I think it is a pathetic case of PTSD. Goofy I know.

I introduced my husband to spam. I grew up with it, my mom is british and remembers it from home.
I like to cube it and fry it up with corn, diced tomatoes, cube potates a dash of tomato sauce and garlic. I just sort of throw it all in together. I am not fancy, but it works.
