I hate to say it, but when someone asks if they can borrow my books I just tell them that I've just loaned them out to someone else and don't know when I'll get them back. I guess they move on to ask other people b/c I seldom get a second request!!!!

I hate having to ask for my books back, am afraid I'll get them back in less-than-pristine condition or not get them back at all (horrors!). So if it's something I love, I refuse to loan it!

I was in a used bookstore yesterday and found four full sets on the shelf. They looked like they might have been read once.. The people that gave them up should be flogged!

I read them so many times that I lost count and then I started lending them out. I now have two copies of the first two books and one of the third and they are ALL currently with friends!

For the end of the school year, I ordered 10 copies of Twilight from Amazon (only $6.10 each) and gave them to all of the kids school teachers, dance teachers, piano teacher and the bus driver with a little note saying, we hope you enjoy your summer and here is a great summer read to get you started! I plan on rereading all three again at the end of July right before the new book comes out. In the meantime, I am happy to spread the Twilight love by getting all of my friends and neighbors hooked!

Tomorrow, I will get to see my 16 year old niece. I bought her her own copy of TW. I just couldn't go 2 months without getting mine back.

So glad I am not the only one that has to catch her breath when someone asks to borrow the books! I have actually found myself doing a preemptive strike and telling people in the conversation where they can get their own copy....

I read my first copy 3 times before picking up a 1st ed, 1st printing on eBay. That one is just for me. I picked up a couple more to lend.

I love to spread the fever, though. My original is with my second niece right now.

Usually when I tell a friend, they think they will just pick up a copy from the library. Our wait/hold list is still over 50 deep. Nice to be able to have a couple extra to loan , and you know you will get it back in a hurry.

Spread the fever!

I got my 11 year old daughter interested enough to pick up Twilight, but she reads so slowly I'm having withdrawal symptoms even though it's still in the house and I've already 'borrowed' it back twice!

I may have to buy another copy and hide it from my family (who are usually good natured about my obsessions but think I'm a little nuts for this one...) -- not an easy feat when the kids are out of school and underfoot all day!

i lent Twlight to my bosses daughter (she is hooked by the way) and i gave her STRICT orders on what NOT to do with my books! It took her FOOOOREVER to read it. She's still on New Moon and she started that back in January!

I think i bugged my boss everyday. LOL I'm also thinking about buying my friend in Utah a set, so that way she'll read them. Ive told her to read them like a 100 times and she hasnt yet.

Oh, my Twilight friends, I know how you feel. I would suffer withdrawal without my Twilight books. Separation Anxiety. And yet I want people to read them. These are people who wouldn't just buy the books but that I know would become hooked. Sooo, I bought lending copies.

With Twilight, I bought two copies for that purpose. This is why: I'd lent one to a colleague but she was'nt reading it fast enough. I thought she'd never finish it. It drove me mad because I wanted colleague #2 to read it and I didn't want her to keep it over the summer. Since I value colleague #1's friendship, I didn't want to pester her for it. So, I decided to buy another copy to lend. Colleague #1 did finish reading it and now colleague #3 is reading that first copy. Colleague #2 has passed it to Colleague #4 and so on...It makes me happy that more people are reading TW and that I still have mine. (BTW, colleague #1 is reading NM --my paperback copy--and colleague #2 got hooked by the epilogue and plans to read NM soon.)

Another thing I do is to gift people with these books, with gift receipts--just in case...(but... hummph...why anyone would exchange them is incomprehensible.) Got TW for my niece on her birthday and my daughter's music teacher got copies of TW and NM as an end of the year gift. My daughter's teacher was absolutely thrilled!

I can't figure that out either. I posted above that I found four sets in a used bookstore. They looked like they had been read maybe once.
