Bella mentions that there is a coolness, so how about vanilla mint?

I was thinking minty too. Vanilla Mint sounds really good. Where is it?

Hee...hee...I found some breath mints that were that flavor, and I was reminded of Edward's breath.

Hummmmm. Yummmy. Sounds delicious. Or should I say mouth watering.

I can't believe I only discovered this thread now - I was just talking to a friend on another site about this same topic! I'm sure many of you will disagree, but I've always envisioned Edward's smell being slightly similar to Obsession perfume - the musky, spicy but sweet tones. Something that reminds me of autumn - probably because I think that's the most romantic season. :) The smell of changing leaves and a burning fireplace.

I scanned the first few and last few pages and didn't see any mention of this - sorry if it turns out to be a repeat question: Has SM ever said if there is a connection between a vampire's smell and what his/her blood smelled like when human? I'm wondering if Bella's vampire smell will be freesia just like her blood. I hope so because then Edward can enjoy the bouquet without the torturous temptation of the wine after she's changed!

When I think of how Edward would smell, I imagine cold crisp air like a snowy day or something. I don't come in contact with snow on a regular basis, so the only thing I can liken THAT to is the smell of the ice machine at my work, and when I smell that, it reminds me of the smell of the Matterhorn ride at disneyland. Actually it reminds me of any amusement park ride with water running through it, that clean chlorinated water smell. Someone please tell me I'm not crazy and they know the smell I'm thinking of.
I imagine Edward has a more manly scent than chlorinated water though. Crisp, clean, fresh and cool, but a touch of masculinity to it too.

I need to go scent shopping so I can buy a bucketload of Edward and douse everything I own with it.

Haha! I know - I want to find the perfect scent and then spray the books with it. Not that that would be weird and obsessively crazy or anything, right? ;)

Not obsessive in the least! I've done that with my Twilight and my Eclipse books. I decided on "Fierce" by Abercrombie and Fitch. I love the scent as I read. It makes it so more......

Anyhow, I did not spray NM because there really isn't enough of Edward in that book and I'd feel like I were being disloyal. Perhaps I'll spray a tissue and lightly wipe the pages where he appears. That might just work...But, as far as I'm concerned, it's not at all obsessive. :D

I wanted to tell you I have some Freesia tea (it's black tea with freesia essence and blossoms) and the dried leaves smell absolutely heavenly, elemental and delicate at the same time, very unusual, very pretty. If Bella smells anything like that to Edward, no wonder he says she's mouthwatering.

If Edward's scent, whatever it is, smells to Bella as good as this tea smells to me (and to Edward  ) then that girl never stood a chance.

Some of my favorite moments are when he uses his breath on her: to dazzle, to persuade, to seduce, to mark her. Since scent is one sense vampires are highly sensitive to, I see Bella still being affected at some level by Edward's breath. I don't see us losing all of these wonderful moments.

I'm sure she'd have to be. All the vampires can recognize one another by each one's distinctive scent (like being able to determine that Bella's bedroom intruder was not Victoria--"It wasn't a scent I recognized"), and it just stands to reason that while any vampire smells pleasant or acceptable to another, some smell better than others to any particular vampire. I'm not worried that Edward and Bella would become immune to their current enjoyment of each other's scent. JMO, though.

I agree about them continuing to enjoy each other's scents. If anything they will smell all the more tantalizing to one another. Bella's scent will be intensified to Edward. And Edward's scent will be as well, because Bella's olfactory abilities will be enhanced.

Oh good - I like this line of thought! It makes me feel better that Edward won't lose some of the superficial things he likes so much about Bella! :D

Glad you liked my perfumed books idea, lol! InnamorataDiTwilight, I think that's a great idea to just perfume the Edward pages of NM - haha, perfect! ;)

Oh! Freesia tea! Shimmerskin I never thought of that but I'll be on the lookout for it now!

Mine came from a shop called SBSTeas ( scentbyspirit.com ) but they no longer carry it, unfortunately. I found another supplier but theirs just isn't the same (not even close, in fact). That's why I haven't brewed my last teaspoonful of leaves! I have to keep something to sniff when I want to imagine what Bella smells like to Edward.

Cordelia: IMO, I think that it will--only more tantalizing for Edward.

Shimmerskin: that tea sounds very appealing. Who makes it? I'd like to try some. My mission for the perfect scent never ends. :D

Sorry, IDT, the place where I got it no longer makes/sells it. I'm very sad. I really do think it's close to how Bella smells and would even taste to Edward. You might not think Freesia tea would taste that good (I wouldn't have ordered it on my own--my first ounce was a gift from the original owner of the shop), but it became one of my favorites.

One of these days I'm going to find the scent that perfectly evokes Edward to me, but I haven't managed it yet. I think I'll have to stumble upon it by accident.
