Did anyone else though get the feeling that Pet's body was a manifestation of the type of soul Wanda really was? Gentle and loving and wanting to do that right thing. I know that Pet is "fragile" but Wanda never felt right to me in Melanie's body; maybe I am the odd one out but I think that Pet fits Wanda better (plus she can learn to toughen herself up )

I totally agree with you on this one.
I felt as though Wanda is stronger then Pet and so it was a little dissapointing to have her put in such a young weaker body.
I imagined her to look like the actress Alexis Bledel from Gilmore Girls which made it a little easier to imagine.

I just feel as though the fit isn't quite right especially for the love her and Ian now share.
Hopefully in the sequel, it will fit better.

I can only imagine how weird it is though switching to a new body that young and having to adapt again while still having strong feelings for Jared. Enough to drive ya crazy!

I think Pet´s body is a very good choice for Wanda´s body. It´s reflecting her character perfectly. If I would have been able to choose a body, I would have picked a tiny young blond girl.
Maybe the three choosed a younger body so Wanda has more experience and choices for herself to fill in.
When Wanda awake´s in Pet´s body and she sees Jared and Mel, I believe that the jealousy she feels is her own. But maybe it was more shock than anything else. She tells Ian, that Jared is her past and Ian her present. I think this describes it the best.

But there is one thing I didn´t get about Pet:
Mel, Jared and Jamie caught pet, remoted her soul and why didn´t the former pethost woke up? Is it the same with Sunny? I was not really sure. How had they know that they would choose a host which would´t come back?!

I think, when Jamie was explaining why he chose Pet to hold Wanda's soul, it was either Mel or Jared (?) who said that they'd watched Pet for a while. They chose Pet, a younger human, because they were fairly certain that she'd been a host longer than she'd been a human thus eliminating the possibility that she'd have a human mind/memories trying to fight Wanda's occupation of her body.

I could see this body being chosen because Wanda was compassionate, caring, and nice and this seems to be embodied in the sweet and almost meek body of Pet. I think if there is a sequel/had been more time after the switch, that Wanda's body would get stronger with time and she would be less weak physically.
I think the feelings were residual. Wanda mentions that sometimes she would see Melanie looking at Ian with those same feelings, and then looking confused. I think this is just a result of sharing the same mind and emotions for so long.

It's cool to see how different everyones opinion varies when it comes to Wanda's new body.

I believe though that Mel knew to pick a body that had been occupied for quite some time by the host since the chances of the human having disapeared would be greater. Plus if the human was much younger when it was occupied, it may not have fought like Mel had.

I guess I can understand the age thing, but after all the places Wanda has been and the things she had experienced even being a bear, I felt she is a much stronger person then the body she was put in.

Hi, thanks for the answer. I think it´s getting a bit clearer for me So your opinion is they have watched her long enough to know that she is pure and pure a soul and not much left of the host itself? The last chapters were a bit difficult with puffy eyes in a foreign language...

But there was never a garantue for them that the host will not take back his body, so they just tried, right?!

Right, I think they simply took a chance and, fortunately, the chance paid off. I got the feeling, while reading the book, that cases like Wanda's and the Seeker's were pretty rare. The majority of the humans succumbed to the souls' occupation of their minds fairly easily.

I had the same thought. A gentle, sweet, childlike body to go with the gentle soul. Ian was always saying that Wanda worked too hard and did too much (in Melanie's body.) But Pet's body is not capable of hard work and it will force Wanda to let others care for her.

Of course, you are right... I almost forgot that these are the exeptions... I felt a bit sorry for Pet that she had to leave her host body, but I was surely for Wanda, that she got this body.

Do you really think Mel chooses the new tiny body because it´s the whole opposite of her? Maybe she wants it easy for Ian and Jared to seperated herself and Wanda

That is what I got from the story. They had observed different bodies as well it seemed to try and find the best one they could for her.

It is pretty complex to try and figure out while being upset by the fact that she was giving up her living so Mel could have her body back.
Overall I am glad she got the chance to come back and experience things for her self (sort of).
It sounded like she was still feeling things through the new body such as being shyer. We'll see if over time she gets past those feelings.

I wonder if the feeling like shyness or the giggeling was only a respond from Pet´s body or if it´s just Wanda´s real site. Maybe she is all this and when she was in Melanie´s body she was just because of this a bit stronger for herself. Wanda is not weak, but I think her real herself is really soft, so maybe she´s just evoluting...

That's a really good point. I didn't think of that.
She very well could be that way since Mel was so overpowering, she may not have gotten a chance to experience her own feelings. I guess Stephenie is the only one who really knows what it all means. It is fun to guess though!

I have a quick question in regards to Germany....
My husband and I are going to go up near Garmisch in July. How will the weather be then?

I agree 110%. I think they chose Pet because:
1. Her body matches the gentle nature of Wanda's spirit.
2. I think that Pet's body, being so delicate, was so opposite of Mel's athletic physique and dark coloring that Jared can't possibly see Wanda as anyone but Wanda.
3. I think that Jamie choosing a non-threatening, gentle, delicate human helped the colony be more accepting of Wanda.

I´m no weather god, but usually it should be very warm there. Do you mean Garmich in the very south of Germany? What the hell are you doing in the middle of nowhere? You have to visit munich, this is a very nice and big city near by.
