Yes, I think the Happy Edward scenes in MS will be even better than those in TW because we'll get more than Bella's glimpse of them. We'll be on the inside looking out, as it were, actually feeling them WITH Edward instead of observing them secondhand. In that sense, MS will trump TW for me.

You're so right about 'feeling them WITH him' and we get his feelings from the beginning. Bella had no idea how he felt until the third or fourth chapter of Twilight. It will be so nice to know what he AND everyone around him is thinking/feeling. I loved in the MS first chapter where he opened his senses and could hear everyone's thoughts about Bella.

Every single thing about Edward is intriguing! Just to get the chance to be in his mind will be amazing! We all know that he doesn't see himself like we do, so I can't wait to hear how he views everyone else. I think Midnight Sun will be at least as good as Twilight, but probably better. We have Twilight memorized, so the chance to get a whole new view on it will be amazing! Even though we know what will happen, it will be an entirely new story

I believe it will be better than Twilight. We'll get to see the dark and light side of Edward. MS and TW are similar to witnesses at an accident. Both see what happens but from a different perspective. Moody, dark Edward, to see his thoughts, now that will be interesting since we know he doesn't stay dark. :D I would love if SM could put the first 3 books into MS, there is so much I want all at once.  :D

I think it will be better than all the books in the series. I want to hear things from Edward's POV. When I first read the first chapter of MS I was flaberghasted. That's the word for it because Edward was so much darker and deeper than I imagined him being reading Twilight from Bella's POV. It took my breath away to read his words. We will understand so much more about the other books too once we hear things from Edward's head. If only she could write them all over from his POV!

Yes, definitely darker in MS! In the first chapter it really came across that Edward is over 100 years old - in the books it is sometimes easy to forget that when everything is seen through Bella's POV (IMO, at least).

I just read ch 23 ("The Angel") of Twilight and I can't wait to read that from Edward's perspective. Bella wasn't in any shape to comprehend Edward's struggle as he removed Jame's venom from Bella's hand. In MS it will be SO dramatic - I can't wait!

After MS is published I have every intention of starting a petition to encourage SM to write the rest of the series from Edward's POV. You never know, if enough people sign it then it might convince her - it's worth a try.

I will definately sign that petition! I think the only way we will ever really know Edward is to read all the books from his point of view. SM may think it will get boring to read the same books over again from his pov, but they won't be the same books! Edward is such a complicated, deep person that it will take 3 books from his perspective to really know him. I would love to see all the books from his view, but I will be happy with just MS if that is all we get. Just a glimpse into his world is enough to make me happy. I want to know the sad Edward and the happy Edward...the funny Edward and the tortured Edward...and I think we will get all that in MS. Is it 2009 yet?? :D

I totally agree - I will sign that petition also! Maybe you should get it started right now so SM will have time to write the other books (so there won't be any lapse in time) Oh, can you just imagine Edward's thoughts during New Moon??? And while he is tracking Victoria? There is still so much we don't know about the "other" side of things. Again, I think your petition idea is a keeper!!!

I would love to have all the books from Edward's perspective. He's a complex character: mature, introspective, deep, lonely, and jaded with everything except Bella. In his intense attraction to her alone does he come closest to being the 17 year old boy he masquerades as--a young man consumed with his first love. I can't get enough of Edward!

aprillove, have you read the extra titled "Rosalie's News" on SM's website? http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/nm_extras.html
We get such a great glimpse into tortured Edward, the first page especially just breaks my heart and makes me want to hug the stuffing out of him!

I'm usually not a fan of prequels, but I would love one for Edward! To read about his struggle coming to terms with his new identity as a vampire, pretending he survived the Spanish Flu so that he can claim his parent's home and belongings, helping Esme adapt to life as a vampire and soon after deciding to go out on his own, and how he returns to Carlisle and Esme determined never to kill another human. And to see pre-Bella Edward so that we get an even better understanding of how much she has changed him for the better. Couldn't SM just tack on 20 extra chapters to the beginning of MS with all of this in it? That's not asking too much, is it? ;)

OME! A prequel to MS would be fantastic! There is so much of Edward's life that we will never really know about - because no matter how much SM writes about him we will always want more and more. I would love to read about Edward's childhood and near death - it would give a fantastic insight into who he really was as a person before he was changed. I'm sure who he was as a human influences him as a vampire, no matter how much he can't remember it now. Early life experiences shape our personalities whether we realize it or not. I want this prequel! I say we start another petition! :D

Haha -I'll just add it on to the demands of my original petition, edwards_obesession! And then if SM isn't persuaded I may have to pull a Kathy Bates (from "Misery") and hold Stephenie hostage until she types it all up!

Do you think Edward has really forgotten as much of his childhood as he claims? I think he remembers more than he lets on but it hurts him to think/talk about it. After all he still owns the house in Chicago and going back there soon after his change must have reinforced some of his memories. I wonder if he will take Bella there in BD - maybe for their honeymoon? I'd love a scene where she can get a glimpse of what Edward Masen was like!

Where do I sign this petition. I've been mentioning in posts for a while that I want to see the entire saga written from Edwards point of view. Then she could do it from Alice's. That way we get to see exactly when she saw Bella coming.

Ooh, Alice's POV would be great! I can't wait to read the scene where she tells Edward about her first vision that Bella will become a vampire/Cullen. I bet Edward went nuts! Hopefully he will "see" Alice's vision in her mind and we'll at least get to see it that way.

Alice is such an interesting character. I want to know how accurate her visions were as a human - did she see herself as a vampire in the future and tell her family? Is that why they put her away? And then the fact that there was an older (I'm assuming vegetarian) vampire working in an asylum surrounded by humans who "saved" her and ultimately died for her. Her creator sounds a little like Carlisle. And how on earth did James ever find out about Alice to begin with if she was locked up in a dark room in an asylum - did James work there too? There's just so much to learn about her! Great idea, TallMan!

BTW, I haven't actually started the petition - YET. I want Stephenie to have uninterrupted writing time to work on MS first. Then I'll bombard her like a crazed fan with my petition, lol! ;)

Cordelia, thank you so much for giving me that link to Edward's tortured soul. I feel so badly for him, for his "loss" of Bella. What a treat to read his mind for a time! Wow, now if we could really get SM to write all 3 books from his POV. That would be unbelievable!

Just let me know when that new petition is ready to go. Ideally, I would love to have the whole series from the perspective of all the Cullens, Bella, and the Volturi. I think it would be totally fascinating, even though I bet SM would think we would get awfully bored with it! Haha - as if! It is a tribute to her that we are so fascinated with her characters that we could read about them endlessly :D
