|
|
So a few people mentioned that Rainy Day books might not have a “Party” but just open the doors at 11:58 to let people in to get their books & leave. Some of us talked to Vivian after the event and expressed interest in something more, especially those driving from outside the greater KC metropolitan area. She mentioned they would look in to maybe doing something starting at 10pm. I know some of others ordered their books from other stores.
So here is my idea for our own little breaking dawn release party. Since one of the main events for the party is the wedding I think we should have a little bachelorette party for Bella. We can have a fun filled girl’s night out then head to the bookstores or wherever rainy day books decides to hold the event.
The people coming from out of town could hook up & share a hotel room. I know I am local but I was really considering getting a hotel room anyway just so I don’t have to deal with the interruptions the next morning and can just read. And if there are enough of us to get a suite or something we would have a place to go back to after the signing to read or continue the party or sleep. I looked into the great wolf lodge it has a room that sleeps 8 and for 8 people it would be $50 a person. Depending on how many are interested that may or may not work. So discuss here & let me know what you think, or had suggestions of what else to do. _________________ When life offers you a dream so far beyond any of your expectations, it’s not reasonable to grieve when it comes to end.

I would be interested since GWL is on the side of town that is closer to my home. _________________

I LOVE the idea of doing the bachelorette thing (I know Bella isn't 21, but I vote for Margaritas in honor of the things she'll miss out on once she changes heehee)...
Lovin' the suite idea. I've always wanted to stay at GWL.. but I wonder if we should price out suites maybe on the Plaza as well, just because it's closer to Rainy Day, and it sounded like alternate ideas that Vivian had would all be downtown anyway... not so close to GWL for women eager to get reading.
Anyway, Mari and I already have it on our calendar.. so you should be able to count us in, barring any unforeseen disasters. I'm home the weekend before for a big family reunion at Union Station.. half tempted to just stay, but I probably will head home, then back again with Mari.
We've both been lamenting how we wish we were still there with you girls. Way more fun than returning to real life

I'll try to do some research for something near or on the plaza this weekend to see what that might cost might be and then we can compare.
I think we should make reservations soon since it will be peak vacation season, but I also want to make sure of the interest level to decide on how big of a room to get, or how meny rooms. _________________ When life offers you a dream so far beyond any of your expectations, it’s not reasonable to grieve when it comes to end.

YES! Count me in. GWL sounds good but I really don't care where we end up. I'm just so thrilled with the idea of getting to meet some others and have some adult girl time. Seriously lacking in my life. _________________ "Well, that just sucks!" I snapped. "I guess I'm stuck with Mike Newton after all." Bella, Eclipse

Well.. we may have talked her into a release party (the gal from Rainy Day Books). We sort of ambushed them.. and they were obviously exhausted.. but you could see the wheels turning in her brain.. like OHH.. they really want us to DO something. Her biggest concern at the time of ambush was that the BD release is on a Friday.. she wasn't sure if she could locate a venue large enough to accommodate the crowd on a Friday night.
Either way.. release party or not.. I think we should do our thang! A release party would be cool, but let's face it.. what gets cooler than the utterly mature goings ons of TMs?? So what if we sqee and swoon now and then. We've given birth (or at least a good portion of it).. we've earned the right!!!

I've taken that Friday off work, so just about anything I can do to help set up, or whatever, let me know.
On a slightly different note, does anyone know of anything going on around here that night that would be suitable for my Twilight Teen?

I'm so glad you guys talked to them. I had heard about them just opening the doors at 11:58pm, but then I figured that can't be right. I was talking to the cranky guy with the black hair. You guys know what I'm talking about. Anyways I'm glad you guys said something. I hope they do something around 10pm. I need to get excited ahead of time. My husband is coming with me again so we'll probably hang out but not spend the night with you all because .... well I think my husband would feel really weird.

Haha!! Awww come on.. you don't think he'd be up for a girlie slumber party? We could paint his toes!! Turn him into guinea pig Barbie a la Alice. Poor guy!!
Yes, she had said something like "oh, we thought we'd just open up our doors and people could pick up the books".. so cranky guy wasn't so far off on original plans, but hopefully our persuasiveness pays off.
My husband just finished reading the Twilight Series.. I think I could get him to wear a shirt like you got for your hubby now... Although he won't admit to his World of War Craft buddy where he's been "hanging" the last week or so. He stayed up extra late to finish Eclipse the other night because apparently he was catching flack for not being online.. and he won't even say why. *sigh* Suppressing his true nature..

That's funny. One day it will slip out and he'll have to admit it to his WoW buddies. I think my husband just explains his absences from WoW as "Oh the wife was bugging me to do something" I'm sure there is some kind of code for this, but I don't know what it is.
It would be soo cool if RainyDay Books would reserve a conference room at a hotel for the party and then everyone could just get their own rooms for after the party so they can just stay there and read. We're from the area but it would be nice to not have to drive through Downtown late at night after the party.
