|
|
Since Father's Day is this month, we thought it would be super awesome to spotlight one of our TwilightDADS! I chose Alucard Van Hellsing (aka David) to spotlight.
I noticed his posts in our new TwilightMEN forums and when I read them I seriously busted a gut!! He is super funny, loves Twilight and is a really cool guy. He could be a great shoulder to lean on for the men in our lives trying to deal with our obsession and needing support and to know there are other men like them dealing with the same exact thing. So get your husbands/boyfriends/fiances/guy friends to register (eh-em...they need to be a dad, married or 25 or older to register ) and send them on over to our TwilightMEN forum (like our Twilight Widowers Club for instance) and they won't be sorry!
So let's get to know David better, shall we?
TwilightMOMS: Which TwilightMOM is your wife?
David: Nichole
Shout-out to Nichole from EndlessTwilight: You are gorgeous, my dear!!
Have you read the books and do you "revamp"?
I have read the books. Nichole and I read them together the first time through. I have not had a chance to revamp yet, I am too busy being Nichole’s Edward (you know, working and putting food on the table, and trying to make all her dreams come true. You know, the things that matter).
David, what are you really saying about "revamping" there??? Hmmm??? J/K!
What about Twilight/Stephenie Meyer books do you find appealing?
They are easy to read. Stephanie tells a great story, but doesn’t try to put too much description into the book. She gives enough to let the reading know what’s going on, but doesn’t drown me in complicated adjectives. When I read a story, I associate what’s in the book with what is in my own life, so I am going to see what I want in a story anyway. Plus, the characters all rock.
Did your wife turn flips and do somersaults when you finally conceded to read Twilight?
I never conceded. I actually started reading the book first. We were going on a trip, and I needed something to read. Nichole’s mom had just bought the book, but had not read it yet. She said I could read it. I had not heard about the book yet, but I’ll read anything with words on it, so I took it. I read the first two chapters on my own, before I left on the trip, then I had Nichole read to me, while I drove the car. She wanted to know what the story was about, so we started on page one again. We read the whole trip, and then my wife wouldn’t let me read anything from the book, after that, until she could be there with me. So we bought all three books and read them all together. So, you see, Nichole didn’t have to turn flips at my conversion, because we were both baptized together. However, Nichole does consider herself the luckiest TM ever to have a husband like me.
"Baptized together" - LOL. I love it! There you have it folks....I think this may be a first. A man that was converted before his wife! Heck yes! Nichole is super lucky!
(Lisa - I believe this needs to go down in the record books somewhere....)
Have you become more Edwardesque with regard to your relationship with your wife?
I have always tried to be an Edward to my wife, even before I knew who Edward was. I made a promise to Nichole’s dad just before she and I were married. He made me promise that I would treat Nichole like a princess for everyday of her life. I have tried hard to keep that promise, and I will continue to try hard everyday throughout eternity.
Holy crud, now that is just about the best thing you could say EVER! (Now all you single ladies wondering if there are any more "Edwards" out there can rest assured they do exist somewhere, only remember that this one is taken! )
Where did you grow up?
I have spent the last 180 years (okay maybe just the last 28 years) growing up in North Ogden, Utah.
What were you like as a small child/elementary school?
I was my moms favorite son. And, yes, my siblings are aware of this fact, because my mom openly admits it. I was the kid who never complained and was always easy going. I got my homework done when it needed to be, and I never asked for help on the homework. I got my chores done when they were supposed to be. I never asked for any of the expensive clothes, I was happy with K-Mart brand and Wal-Mart brand. I was just simply the best little kid anyone could want.
What were you like in jr.high/high school?
I didn’t have much of childhood once I started jr. high. At age 13, I started working for my dad (he was a brick mason). I have been working ever since. When I did have a social life, I was a pretty shy kid. I didn’t have my first kiss until I was a junior in high school. I was an honor role student all six years of jr. high through high school.
Did you ever date anyone that reminded you of any of the female characters from the Twilight series or The Host?
Nichole is the only person I ever dated long enough to get to know well. And she reminds me every bit of Bella. I did date a girl once that reminded me of Victoria, but that is a long and very scary story.
Any college attended and if so, where? and describe yourself back then.
I am still back then. I am one of those people who goes to college for eight years and doesn’t become a doctor. I served an LDS mission right after I graduated high school, and I met Nichole right after I got back. So, I have been married for most of college and I have had to do school part time while I work full time.
What do you do for a living?
I work construction. Sounds crazy doesn’t it, a hard core construction worker liking Twilight so much?
Nope!! That is waaaay cool!
What would your dream job be? why?
I would love to be a movie critic. I love movies and it would be totally awesome if I could get paid to watch movies all day.
How did you meet your wife?
Nichole worked at a local A&W. I went in to get a Root beer freeze and when she came to the counter to take my order I knew right away that I would know this girl for a long time. When we first met, I found out that she was only 17 and I tried to set her up with my younger brother because he is actually closer to her age, but she told me she didn’t date younger guys. I didn’t try to pursue anything with her because I thought she was too young for me, but I kept coming back to that A&W because I liked talking to her, she was so easy to talk to. One day, she flat out asked me why I hadn’t asked her out yet. She gave me her number and the rest is history.
What's the coolest date you have ever been on with your wife?
I am on my coolest date with her right now, we are on vacation in Hawaii. Does it get any cooler than that? But if that doesn’t count, then the coolest date was our first date when we went rock climbing.
Names and ages of children?
We have one son who is 18 months old. His name is Glade Valiant Woolsey
"Glade Valiant"? WOW!! That is a rockin' name! I'm all for interesting, different, not so ordinary names and this one is simply awesome!
******CUTIE PATOOTIE ALERT!!! CUTIE PATOOTIE ALERT!!!!*********
He is so precious!
What's the definition of a good father? husband?
If you look it up in a dictionary you will see my picture. J/K. A good father/husband is a man who puts his family first before anything else. He does everything he can to show them that he loves them. He gives them his time and attention, and works as hard as he has to in order to give them the things they need in life. He is an example, and a role model. To be honest, he is everything my dad was, and if I am anything like him, then I know I am doing a good job.
Aww...
What are your other hobbies? Sports? Video Games?
Nichole and I are currently writing a book together. She is writing the story, and I am editing it. She has actually written two total books, but I have to find spare time to do the editing. We are hoping to try and publish sometime next year. I love to play golf, and I play quite often with Nichole’s dad and brother. I wrestled in high school. I am way into the Final Fantasy video games, my favorite one is Final Fantasy VII. It is the only video game that has ever made me cry.
Definitely let us know when those books come out!
What do you like to do as a family?
Mostly just hang out and watch movies, and read Twilight, and of course get on Twilight Moms and play all the games on the games section of the website.
Other sites you frequent on the web?
Youtube and Moviefone.com
What is your most embarrassing moment?
I skipped work one day and went to lunch with Nichole. While we were at the restaurant, I got a phone call from my boss. I knew that if I answered he would want me to come into work, so I sent the call to voicemail. A few seconds later, he calls again, and I send that call to voice mail. After the third call is sent to my voicemail, the phone doesn’t ring again. A little while later, we pay our bill and get up to leave, and as I turn and head toward the front door, I see my boss sitting two tables away. He had seen me eating and was watching me basically hang up on him, repeatedly. He saw me notice him and he immediately started laughing because I knew I had been caught. That was pretty embarrassing.
What are your favorite bands/musicians?
In high school, I was a big time Metallica fan, then I had a Garth Brooks country music faze. Now, I don’t really have a favorite. I will listen to anything and if I like a particular song, it usually ends up on my IPOD.
What is your favorite flavour of ice-cream
Ice-cream is okay, but what I really prefer is Italian ice, it’s kind of like ice-cream, only better. My favorite flavor is orange cream.
List your favorite movies
Wow, where do I start? I love movies, and I have probably seen more movies in one year than most have seen in a lifetime. Definitely, number one best movie ever is Snakes on Plane. Why? The title says it all. Hey, don’t judge me, I am what I am. Other favorites include, Office Space, The original Star Wars Trilogy (not the sub-par prequels), and of course Night of the Living Dead (both the original black and white, and the remake starring Tony Todd).
EndlessTwilight: *cough* choke* cough* What was that? "Not the sub-par prequels"? Sub-par? Excuse me? *rolls up sleeves* Oh, it's on, buddy!!! You and I are going to have words later....
If mullets were all the rage, would you be rockin' one?
Sorry, no mullets for this guy, unless Nichole tells me too. Then I’m in.
Okay...you redeemed yourself a little here, but it's still on!
What would you love to get for Father's Day? (quick! Here's your chance to shout it out for your wife)
I don’t need anything for Father’s Day, but if she absolutely wants to get me something, I could use a new golf bag.
What if it's just a "sub-PAR" golf bag? LOL, sorry....
Anything else you would like to say?
Thank you for spending some time to get to know me. The Twilight Moms rock. Oh yeah, and for a good time, check out the Twilight Mens section of Twilight Moms.
Thanks, David!! _________________

Very nice to get to know you David! Congrats on Dad of the Month. Your son is adorable and your wife is very lucky. Though, I read the books to my dh too and it was a very cool experience. _________________

Congrats David on being the TwilightDad of the month! I am so proud of you........ I never thought I would have to fight over the computer to share my obsessions with other women who's husbands aren't always so understanding. It is kind of funny! I think you are on here more than I am now and I'm going to have to start reminding you that the lawn needs to be mowed and garbages taken out of the house.......... But really, I am very lucky and you truly are my Edward. However, you still get to tend when the movie comes out........that is definently my ladies night! _________________
