Since Father's Day is this month and we will all be thinking of the men in our lives, I thought I'd pick a charity with them in mind...
I absolutely love the name! So "catchy", easy to remember and downright hilarious!
Visit their website here: Save2ndBase.com
"Save 2nd Base” is a unique and humorous phrase to support the fight against Breast Cancer. A play on words of the old baseball euphemism is now synonymous with a battle cry heard ‘round the globe!
"...Breast cancer is no laughing matter, but since we have lost so many wonderful women (and men) to this disease we decided to fight it with humor."
-save2ndbase.com
Their inspiration:
"Kelly Rooney was a loving wife and mother of five young children. Rooney was Save 2nd Base’s co-founders, Erin Dugery and Kelly Day’s sister and friend, respectively.
Kelly battled breast cancer for three years, and underwent countless surgeries, rounds of
chemo, and radiation. Despite her challenges and obstacles, she knew cancer couldn’t take away laughter.
Kel was funny. She had a quick wit, loud laugh, and endearing wink. She taught those around her to “lighten up.”
Kelly was mischievous…she was no saint and never set out to be. She was utterly human, with a big, giant heart.
Kelly passed away on July 11, 2006 at the age of 43. Through her memory, she continues to be the creator of the smiles that are provided by these t-shirts."

You can help their cause by visiting their online store and purchasing one of their many creative tees HERE
Pink Baseball Tee
Or a shirt a man could get behind -
If that doesn't remind you to do your monthly self breast exam, I don't know what does!
The ladies from Save 2nd Base are honored to be our June Charity of the Month. May we all love our "girls" enough to check them regularily and give where we can to save them.

I think that this is a great cause. My hubby and help with our local chapther. He has a shirt that says " I LOVE BOOBS" but instead of the two O's in boobs it has the ribbon for breast cancer. We always get alot of looking when he wear it out in public. _________________

I think this is a wonderful cause to support. Just three short weeks ago my sister in law was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and she started chemotherapy last week in a hope that the tumour can be shrunk to size to be operated on. She is 42.
My friend I work with is 46, my age. Three years ago she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and treatment seemed to be successful. In July last year her 16 year old son died in a motorbike accident and the cancer returned. Two weeks ago the treatment was stopped. The cancer has spread to her bone, liver and kidney's. For the past two weeks she has been in a Sue Ryder care home, they want her to make the decision to go home to die. The time left to her is now being given in days.
I already donate regularly to UK based Breat Cancer charities but I have a friend who can visit the website on my behalf. _________________

I have never lost anyone to cancer but my husband lost his mom. It started before we got married. His mom got breast cancer two cases of it and then she also got a brain tumor after we got married so he had a hard time and really took it hard in fact in the first three years that we were married he lost and uncle to cancer and then his grandpa had had cancer but he died other ways then he lost his mom so we had three funeral after we were married I feel for him I have never had to deal with cancer until I got married and fear for it in or life’s since it runs in my husband family every time I take my husband or daughters to the doctor it is in the back of my mind will his be the time will we leave here with the news that they have cancer.

What a wonderful organization! I've got family and friends who are either survivors or are fighting this now! My Aunt is a 2nd time survivor. I hold this near and dear to my heart. I'll be supporting this!
I love the shirts. _________________

It's more important than ever that this disease is researched more. My friend who I mentioned in my earlier post lost her battle with cancer on Saturday. She was a lovely lady and will be missed. _________________
