Hey Ladies, isn't amazing how the little things can make us go crazy about an actor; even something like his voice or cowboy boots? Well, so much so that we even have a entire thread here on TMs dedicated to Jackson as Jasper, just to discuss that. Here it is. Please check it out and post away about all the wonderful things about him you love. Then why not come back here and talk about what a great southern gentleman he is!!

Thanks!

OK, so if Jasper is still a southern gentleman, do you think that he still holds open doors, treats ladies like glass flowers, and is all around polite? Or, do you think that he changed drastically since becoming a vampire and doesn't do any of that anymore?

I would love to see that especially since alice is so spunky and over course not at all fragile. But I would guess yes remember in eclipse at the fight he wouldn't let anyone get anywhere near Alice even though durring their train sessions with the wolves she proves herself very capable. *see my sig quote*

True, he's that way with Alice. But, he seems so quiet. I wonder if it's because he has a harder time controlling himself or if he's just that way. Would he be polite to a totaly stranger?

It's hard to know that definitely because of his weakness to resist blood when he is around humans. If you take that out for a moment, and look at him personality wise, I would say yes. His calm, soft easy going approach just seems to flow so nicely with the qualities we seem to equate with a real "gentleman".

I think he would definately be very polite and personable to people he doesn't know, as long as he knew he could control himself. That would be the big problem! Remember when he met Maria and the other 2 girls before he was changed? He thought they were ghosts, but since they were women & he had been taught to be polite to ladies, he still tried to help them. Even when they were talking about killing him (or trying not to)! Can't be much more of a southern gentleman than that! :D

I really hope the chivalry is an integrated part of his character. I really dont want to think of my Jasper being a typical guy and kinda bein a jerk when it comes to the simpliest things like holding the door open and things like that. Like edwards_obsession mentioned, he was still polite to Maria and the other two girls when they crossed him when he was still human. Being raised that way, I hope at least a bit stayed with him in his vampire life.

I really hope so too! I've heard that the movie is going to focus more on him feeling everybody else's feelings around him. Like he's in pain or something. Can't remember where I hear that though. I hope that he's still the southern gentleman that we all know he is!

The thing about southern gentlemen is that their manners seem to almost be a genetic trait, instead of a learned response. This was especially true in the time period in which Jasper was born.

True, true! Do you think that Jasper is so drawn to Alice because she is from the South also?

I don't think so. I know she is from the South, but I don't really get the "southern girl" vibe from her.

I don't get that vibe either, and she doesn't have an accent. Just wondering if her being southern also made them even more compatable.

I really dont know if that is a factor in them being together. I mean, think about it ladies, do you really care where your man is from, does that make a difference in whether you love him or not? I think the two of them are in love with one another because of the reason any of us are in love with our man, by their personality and how they act. I dunno, I'm just kinda babbling, enjoyin some time away from the kids that have invaded the house. LOL

neither one of them is decribed in the books as talking with an accent. I personally don't imagine either one with one either.
